Re: TK-862H problems

I can think of 2 possible problems with the kpg-29d software. 1. Common issue with DOS computers is that the com port is not enabled or there is a conflict with another serial device (modem, mouse, etc..) Check your BIOS serial device settings. 2. Is this a genuine Kenwood kpg-4 cable? I have a gene...

Re: midland 70-1495b

I don't have access to information on that radio but the default condition for most mobile radios is that scan is disabled if the mic is "off hook". This means it needs to be in its hang up box, in a mic hanger that completes a circuit on the back of the mic or in a grounded mic hanger, de...

Re: Regency BTH-202B repair

You can check with Gerry Oliver, G&G Communications. The problem with Regency is that parts are no longer available so it depends on what parts he still may have in stock.

Re: BK newbie model EPH programming question.

From the information I can find on the EPH series radios they are not capable of operating on the new 7.5kHz offset channels. As is typical of most older radios, the synthesizer can only do 5 kHz steps. It is able to operate in narrow band mode on the original 15 kHz channels but it is not capable o...

Re: Orion D2PLS2 and M-RK PK2PEE HELP!!!

It is likely that the operation on the boat you described is "SCAT" mode, "SINGLE CHANNEL EDACS The Single Channel EDACS function block provides trunking-like functions over a single radio channel, using a single base station plus trunking controller. This combination is normally refe...

Re: Orion D2PLS2 and M-RK PK2PEE HELP!!!

You may be able to get an answer to the information on latest software version on the Harris PSPC forum on this board. I do not have access to recent information now that Ericcson is taken over by Harris. You will need to reprogram the radio for conventional simplex channels since it is useless to y...

Re: Orion D2PLS2 and M-RK PK2PEE HELP!!!

On futher checking the "L" in D2PLS2 probably indicates Low Power. I can't find the "S2" but the "EE" in PK2PEE indicates AEGIS Encryption. I suspect the "S2" may also relate to AEGIS. If this is the case, the encryption modules in the radio were likely remove...

Re: Orion D2PLS2 and M-RK PK2PEE HELP!!!

The "P" following the "2" in the model numbers indicate these radios are for the 403-430 MHz band. In the US 403-420 is for the exclusive use of the Federal Government. 420-430 can be used by Public Safety agencies in certain areas near the Canadian border. 420 is also available ...

Re: Question about MURS frequencies

If the license for 154.490 was allowed to expire, your are going to have to go through frequency coordination and apply for a new license. The new license will be narrow band. The 1/1/2013 deadline for conversion applies only to presently licensed systems. No new wide band licenses will be granted. ...

Re: Question about MURS frequencies

154.490 requires a Part 90 license for use. 154.570 and 154.600 used to reqiuire a Part 90 license but were changed to MURS and a license is no longer needed for formerly licensed systems. MURS frequencies require no license but radios must be 2W or less and meet MURS standards. 154.570 and 154.600 ...

Re: Programming a Kenwoos tk-810

It is not PC programmable. It requires the KPT-20 programming device. If you are into that sort of thing you can probably remove the eeprom and edit the code and write to it with an eeprom programmer. I do not know if it will go down into the ham band without retuning or modification. It is pretty m...

Re: FCC PROGRAMMING RULES OR LAWS QUESTION

The FCC eliminated the requirement for an operator's license to do service work on land mobile radios many years ago. While some type of certification is recommended, it is up to the system licensee to employ or contract with someone competent to program and adjust their radios. The system licensee ...

Re: GE Phoenix Programming Help

I just checked "progX22.exe" and it uses Niles Version 6.5.4 and it supports Phoenix S, SX, Scan and 128 channel. I don't believe there is such a thing as a Model S with scan. Only the SX was available with scan according to all documentation I have. When you were creating the file, did yo...

Re: GE Phoenix Programming Help

It is not freeware but there is "progx22.exe" from RFGuys.com that they sell with their programming adapter. It seems to cover more Phoenix models than Niles. It can do the 128ch model that others can't. I have not tried it with other models. For one radio and minor changes I think the 4EX...

Re: Bendix/King and VHF question

It sounds like the LLC may be eligible for a Business license. If your use is in various areas and not always at a specific venue, a Business itinerant channel may be appropriate. An itinerant channel avoids the frequency coordination process but you may get conflicts with other itinerant users as y...
