Re: EFJ 5317 Version 200
Disregard. These early version 1 radios program with PCC 1.28.0.8, but only at 9600 baud and with the send/receive delay increased (I set ti to 15). The send/receive delay is found under the TOOLS menu.

EFJ 5317 Version 200
Hello, Question for the experts here: I have an old VHF 5300 I would like to reprogram for CAP conventional system. On startup, it very briefly displays "EFJ * V200" , then shown a programmed channel. PCC 1.28.0.8 will read the version info and upload the radios current parameters, but onl...

Re: any active EFJ users left?
Motorola made CAP an Offer They Could Not Refuse so the new portables are APX4000 and mobiles APX4500. The APX4000s are issued in kits of 6, with 12 batteries and a gang charger in a solid case. Nice small light radios. The EF Johnson 5317 and 5113ES are still in use and 5317s are also being used as...

Re: 5100 version
That is a VHF radio. No reason to update firmware if you want to program it for HAM or CAP use conventional systems. It's also grandfathered for MURS (low power only) and could be set up for marine VHF.

Re: any active EFJ users left?
CAP still has active VHF 5113 portables and 5317 mobiles but they are due to be replaced by new Motorolas. The old 5317s are being repurposed as repeater gateways for ReadyOp.

5300ES V6 with remote.
Question for Intrinsically Safe or anyone else: I purchased a 5300 Version 6 on EBay that was advertised as VHF. The unit I received was actually a 700/800 public safety band. This radio has the standard front control head and also a connector for a remote head. The radios will not key transmit or c...

Re: Upgrading a VHF HB radio ...?
Old thread but someone may still want this information. I was able to use PC Tune and reset the band on several 100W VHF HIGH radios to VHF (50W) and then got the whole band. Surprisingly, the output was exactly 50 Watts with no resetting of the output power and the 100W bolted on PA is still in pla...

EF Johnson 5326 110W to 5318 50W conversion
Hello, I am looking for information on how to convert a 100W VHF 5326 back to its base radio, the 50W 5318. I want to use this radio for CAP and need 50W and frequency down to 139 MHz. I know it can be done because I have another 532x that is now 50W and low VHF capable. Does the bolt on added PA mo...

Were you ever successful? I have an 5318 that programs with an RF Guys cable for the HHC. I have a 5328 that I can program with the EFJ RIB.

Re: Firmware-PCConfig Decode
Thanks for all the good information. I have a new, never used, 531H ES series radio with remote head that shows firmware version (Controller version) 6.10.6 and EFJ says I need PCC 2.12.6 to program it. I have 2.14.10, can I upgrade the firmware to use 2.14.10? I only intend to use this for CAP (Ana...

Re: Highest firmware for 242-5112-210-GA?
Thanks,
I have not yet performed a firmware update. Do I use PCC or do I need a special loader? How safe is this?

Highest firmware for 242-5112-210-GA?
I have a 5100 model 242-5112-210-GA and was able to program it for CAP use and it works. Can I upgrade this to 1.18.15 and what, if any, would be the advantage?
Thanks
