Re: MOTOROLA SP50 PROGRAMMING

The comm error can be due to the computers port not syncing with the radio. This was the issue I had when programming the MT(S, X) 2000 series radios on my usual programming PC in windows RSS. I had to use an old slow 486 DX desktop running DOS and the old MT(S, X) RSS. Depending on the brand and ty...

Maxon SM4150/4450 Monogram repeater pinout here

Since the internet is lacking information on connecting a pair of Maxon SM-2150/4450 or GE Monogram mobile radios to make a repeater I have worked out the connections that need to be made to interface radios to a CES RM-10 RepeaterMaker. The connection tchart should be pretty generic for most brands...

Re: SOFTWARE - Get it for free right here!

Up-thread I mentioned some free software from the manufacturer of my radio (Kenwood) I will not link to that as.. Well, if you have a Kenwood TS-2000 then the URL you need is in your owner's manual.. Same for every other radio with that kind of software (most radios with CAT capability (Either a US...

Re: VX-160 question from a new guy

The 160 and 180 are not really worth dumping money into to repair but you may want to have them put on a service monitor and checked out. You could have anything from a bad antenna to a failed pin diode or PA in which case your better off buying a new radio. Some things you can check fairly easy are...

Re: GE Mastr II base station

I know this is an old post but I happen to know too much about the Mastr 2. Firstly a Mastr II is a wideband radio and is not legal to use anymore unless your a Ham or GMRS. Secondly you have a remote base station. There should be or at one time had been a DC Remote or Tone Remote card in the shelf ...

Re: Building a repeater with 2 SM2450s

This is a topic on the internet that is seriously lacking. I have worked out where to make connections to a CSI MicroPatch 9800-EXP, CES RepeaterMaker RM-10, and a CSI-32 Community Repeater Panel. I can make you some directions and a connection table to go by. I am currently working on connecting th...

Re: Schematic of the SMP-4004C (Image link fixed!)

I have a question about the diagram posted. On the original Maxon SPC-4000 serial programming cable there is a red +5 vdc bus wire coming out of the end of the cable at the radio connector, This wire connects to pin 1 on the option / audio header (J-12) in the rear of the radio. I know this is to su...
