egrams is correct. There is a scanned copy of the Vertex technical bulletin uploaded to the files section of the radio-programming group at Yahoo that describes the exact procedure using a factory "contact plate". This contact plate is secured using screws that hold the keypad to the radio...

VX-10 recase

CuriousGeorge, The guys at rfwiz.com carry replacement parts for the VX-10. I believe that the front panel comes without ANY of the covers, buttons and plastic window. The URL to order parts is: http://www.rfwiz.com/Manuals/VertexStandard/VX-10_ExplodedViewParts.htm Sometimes you can also find spare...

VX-10 ERROR_3 message

egrams, I have been using and programming the VX-10 for several months now and I think that your problem is due to the extra channel memory in the FTT-15 keypad being in an illegal state. The radio itself has a memory chip (EEPROM) that holds the standard 40 channels. Onboard the FTT-15 keypad is th...

Re: VX-10 error message list--

Does anyone have this list--or at least the ERROR_2 definition? What is required to return to operation? Since the programming (CE-14) is a Clone Editor, how do I get a basic plug to modify/edit? I believe the radio has a cleared-out plug.....Tjanks in advance--T/T Sorry, but I can't help with the ...

That's the three conductor-to-four conductor conversion cable I was talking about. Some Vertex/Yaesu radios required the three conductor version to program; the VX-10 and some others I believe, need the four conductor plug. Glad to be of help.

Re: VX-10

Ok, Iam trying to program today and one time when downloading to radio , on the computer screen it will only go to 48% then stop, then the radio screen said sending, then the computer screen went to 100% and the computer screen went back to the main page with the frequencys in the bank. snip Okay, ...

Re: VX-10 Programming

Thanks again for the information, I did jsut what you told me, and also figured out the programming application, however when I try to upload after I have entered my frequencies in and have changed the former file that had downloaded from the radio, it says ERR 1 on the radio snip Hhhmm... I'm not ...

Re: VX-10 Programming

Ok, Iam not familair with DOS, but if I make a boot up disk, and once in DOS, then insert the CE-14 disk will that work as well, or do I have to put the C-14 program also on the boot up disk too? snip The hardest part in answering your questions was to find out how to create a bootable floppy disk ...

Re: VX10 cloning cable and procedure?

Can someone inform me, for a friend, how to use the VX10 cloning cable. What's needed to do in the s/w, etc.? Thanks. Splat, I have not seen the factory-recommended procedure, but this is what works for me through trial-and-error: Note: The radios MUST BE IDENTICAL in model and the type of keypad a...

Re: two-tone encode/decode on vx10

Hi, Is it possible to encode/decode 2-tone sequencial pages with a vx10? I have the two-button keypad. I would like to get a full DTMF pad, however. RadCom According to my service manual, what you need is the F2D-7 keypad. It shows as having the 2-tone encode/decode, the DTMF keypad but no voice en...

Re: scan list edit on a vx10

Is there a way to add/delete channels from the scan list on a 2 button vx10 using the keys on the radio? Thanks RadCom I'm assuming you mean that you want to edit some of the channels in the scan list ONE TIME and have the radio remember that between power ups and that one of your keys has been pro...

Re: Upgrading VX-10 FTT-14 keypad with more memory (EEPROM)

I'll post my results in about a month (long lead time for the EEPROM) or so. Ray Well it didn't take as long as I thought... Is anybody interested in buying a modified FTT-14 keypad that provides an extra 62 channels or having their existing FTT-14 upgraded (for a reasonable cost)?? :) Please note ...

Upgrading VX-10 FTT-14 keypad with more memory (EEPROM)

I have been studying my copy of the Vertex VX-10 service manual and have discovered that it might be possible to increase the normal 40 channel memory of the FTT-14 keypad to 102 channels (the same as the 16 key DTMF FTT-15 keypad). I have located a source for the EEPROM and have bought a couple of ...

Re: VX-10 UHF handheld computer programming

My understanding is that the CE-14 program is meant to be used under MS-DOS on a slow computer. I am using a home-brew 486DX4-100 (100Mhz) and my VX-10s all seem to handle it very well. If you try your 700Mhz 'speed demon' :) of a computer, I can only suggest that you create an MS-DOS boot disk and ...

Identifying VX-10 w/12.5khz channel spacing option

I am planning to purchase several used VX-10 UHF radios for use in the GMRS/FRS band. My understanding is that in order to cover the shared GMRS/FRS frequencies I will need the 12.5khz channel spacing option. Is there any way to determine from the LABELS on the radio if this feature is installed (mo...
