Re: Thales/Racal Difference
Just wanted to add that I've also come across a -505 Version B. *And no clue what makes them different.

Re: Thales/Racal Difference
In regards to the first question I think the Racal and Thales 25 (Aka PRC6894) are the same. There is a -505 Rev A I see mostly followed by -503 Rev B also seen often. I'm not sure what was done different between these versions but they look very much the same inside. Using the Thales Update Version...

Re: Thales 25 Remote Commands?
Just an update I've got the Thales Remote Commands Doc No. 1900390 Rev 0201 Dated August 15, 2003 - I'm looking for this document that might have additional commands or some information on the format of /CAL hardware calibration data. *Or the APCO25 PC program that is used to align the Thales Racal ...

Re: Motorola R2670 VGA connector
Old thread so sorry to be late to the party. If I understand it someone said at least one version was CGA? Really old time super low res so your VGA monitor might not sync up. I did see on EBAY a guy selling working color displays for the R2670 that was fairly inexpensive. I rather with someone made...

Re: any active EFJ users left?
Went my old Squadron and had a nice talk with the Commo guy. He showed me the Motorola Handhelds and said they have a not to be issued order (Fear of inventory?) Anyway I was surprised at the small size and the battery and antenna seemed to me (in the 2 minutes of playing with one) to be kind of und...

Thales 25 Remote Commands?
I wrote some software using two of the 40 Thales 25 Remote commands (That I know of) so I could fine tune the Radio's transmit (and recv) frequemcy while dialing the many power setting so as not to set aflame my frequency counter. I know of a command that reloads the hardware calibration. I am think...

Re: any active EFJ users left?
I've been working with a couple of different brand radios but the EFJ stuff is still my primary bread and butter. I picked up a ver 6 with 6.18.0 firmware which I see from some EFJ lit did exist. I don't know if its floating around in the wild or not but "Cough" ummm if anyone hears anythi...

Re: 5100 Alignment
I'll assume this is a radio programmed with NBFM channels? If you load the code plug from these radios check to see what sort of squelch is selected. I had one of the options change squelch type. If your in an area with a bunch of different transmitters on the same channel with different tone you pr...

Question about really old EFJ 5300s ver 1.10.0
I've got some super old 5300s that have the 68HC11 cpu and there are some with rev 11.11 firmware and others with 10.xx Was there ever a way to update this by computer or was this some sort of JTAG or component thing? Is there a PCTUNE made for these relics? Also I've some ARM based 5300s that have ...

Re: 5100 BLANK NO PROGRAM
I said I was a bit of a noob. This is incorrect. I am a total zeroid. "NO PROGRAM" is an indication that the radio doesn't have any channels programmed. So... If you load any code plug into the radio that error message goes away.

Re: Putting 5300 into Code Update Mode
Sorry I think I finally see the problem. The radios that don't upgrade with the Hex files that worked are all the unrevised -410 logic boards which require different files then the -8xx boards that I've had success with.
Does anyone have any of the old old -4xx firmware?
Thanks - Jay

Re: Putting 5300 into Code Update Mode
Well after getting some help I've had success updating some version 1.10.x radios to 1.32.7 using some .hex files I paid for using pcconfig 1.28.8 and the Write Application Code command. Its a two step process where I load one set of loader and code files using the password huskers then a different ...

5100 BLANK NO PROGRAM
I refurb old EF johnsons (Clean, test, repair, tune) and have some ver 1 5100's I've been looking at them and one has this odd problem where is comes up really slow and after self test reports BLANK. Then after a short time it says NO PROGRAM. Now, I'm still a bit of a noob but I think this is that ...

Re: P25 Slow Squelch
One of the field service notes talked about the firmware being for the express purpose of speeding something up so the squelch would open a bit faster. Depending on the Series and Version I notice a slight delay in P25 but I don't think I've seen it chop off the first word. Which maybe due to me wai...
