Re: tk790h issues
Hello, The radio is placed into the program mode by the computer when you connect. USB-Serial adapters are not all the same, I had to buy three before I found one that would work. I searched the Kenwood Yahoo groups, found some posts from people with the same problem. I purchased an adapter recommen...

Re: No serial port on my laptop ... NOW what do I do?
This is where it gets tricky, I use a Tripp-Lite U209-000-R USB to 9 pin adapter for 60 & 80 series radios. It works well with a 3rd party programming cable I purchased. It will NOT work with the 90 Series cables (Kenwood OEM). After several failed attempts to find an adapter that works, I searc...

After checking the KPG 56 V4 software, it looks like the TK 272 is only going to allow 1 pair of tones to be decoded. You would select A-B format. The C tone can not be used for a second pair of tones. It is used as a group call where a single 8 second tone is sent. I have the same issue with some T...

KPG 43 cable
I got a KPG 43 programming cable from my dealer. It has a 25 pin connector for the PC connection. I tried to use it with a 25 pin to 9 pin port adapter into a USB to serial adapter. The PC cannot seem to communicate with the radio, although "PC" appears in the radio's display. COM Port 4 i...

G
Okay, I've been wondering what the "g" was for. Does this indicate that it will accept narrow channels, and have the 2.5 or 7.5 khz channel steps?

TK 290/790 MSK signaling
Does anyone know if older (2 yrs) TK 290 portables and TK 790 mobiles can be flashed to use the MSK signaling feature on PTT? Obviously, the dispatch center would have to have an upgrade to decode it.
DTMF ANI is horrible.
Thanks in advance

You will need a VPL-1 programming cable, no RIB is needed. The software is Vertex CE-5 for a 4/12/24 channel radio
