Found the answer

I just aquired one of these.....EPH599SL
I tried googling this model and it isn't on any of the BK model charts.
Any one know what the "SL" stands for? Maybe a special run for a large organization? Like the "K" models for the Texas DPS.

Found out what the problem was in case any one is interested.

RT systems offers a software update. (patch) On their web site.
The downloading took about 30 seconds. No my computer reads and writes the radio no problem.

Which Kenwood portable is the best for public safety use? Mainly firefighting.
I've heard good things about the TK-290 and TK-3180.

Computer reads radio no problem. But when I go to send the data back, nothing happens. And the radio shows "C- Error" on its display. This radio is brand new with the proper software. The computer I'm using is a 300 MHZ. But I'm pretty much ruling out the PC as the problem since I'm able t...
