Re: A ? on the GE/MACOM Orion Radio

To make the Orion go out of band, you'll have to use an SC4 file that tells the software to shift the frequencies during the programming process. Research SC4 files. I may have even posted a few here and there. You can make them yourself, you just have to do some calculations. Once you program a rad...

If its similar, I'm sure I can figure it out as the sc file is a no-brainer.
From what I remember, it's a little different, but as you said, it's pretty easy.

Re: SC4 Files - Taboo???

I don't understand--those AREN'T .sc4 files (Which are proprietary); they're .sc files and they're NOT the same. They DON'T work with the Windows ProGrammer. You mean the opposite, right? Or am I missing something? I don't have the DOS program so I'm screwed with my lowband Orion. Accurate? You are...

Re: M7100 and FPP (Direct Frequency Entry)

Just upgraded my radio today to digital and direct entry. It works great! It's pretty easy to program and you can change any channel. Only draw-back is that if you try to change another channel, the original one that you changed will revert back to the original programming. I don't find it a problem...

M7100 and FPP (Direct Frequency Entry)

Does the M7100 offer this feature? Is "Direct Frequency Entry" the same as FPP? I see it offered for the P7100. Anyone know the cost for the upgrade?

Thanks!

I always thought the audio was comparable to that of a scanner.

M7100 Upgrade to P25???

Is there anyone out there that can sell me a flash? I've called M/A-Com directly and they will not sell to an individual. They told me I had to go through a dealer. Well, they sent to a dealer in Wichita KANSAS (I'm in Wichita Falls, TEXAS...). Anyway, the guy seemed nice, but two weeks later and I ...

THANK YOU PJ!!!

Very cool how the sc4 files break down. Anyway, the lowband is now on 6 meters. Just a little tune up and It'll be good to go.

Again,
Thank you.

I suppose if you see Option 33 in the radios list, then it is capable of P25 conventional. Am I right about that?

Any new developements? I've seen two sc4 files so far and they both work. They were for the VHF 136-153/136-160 MHz Orions/MRKs. One would move the frequency up 8 MHz and the other would only move it up 4 MHz. I would LOVE to see one of these files that would work on lowband Orions. The two files ab...

We used the MBITRs at the unit I was stationed at in DC. I did not like them. They were huge and the antennas put a low-band MT500 whip to shame - Talk about long and inflexible.

They did what we needed them to do, but I always grabbed an Astro Saber (we had those too).

Who did you go through to get the flash?

I'm getting ready to update my M7100 next week. I hope it isn't too much of a headache.
