Re: CE-27 Dealer Mode

Not that I am aware of. I may be incorrect on the Rev #, but the Windows version was in Beta (test) release when I tried it and it was for the most part useless. You could change freqs and PL/DPL and that was it...

Re: VX-180 Off/On Duty?

Try rereading the radio and duty should be an editable field. I'm guessing what you might have done was edited the default programming table instead of reading the radio first and editing that data? Hope this works for you

Re: VXR7000 PROGRAMMING

At the DOS prompt try typing CE27 -d
This was info from an earlier post on here. I've tried it and it seems to work.

Re: VX-4204 Tone and DCS decode problem

You can also [Enable] the [Off Hook Signalling] in the programming software.
It's under [Commom] --> {Micellaneous] --> [Off Hook Signalling]

1. Under [Signaling] --> [2-Tone Table] enter the tones your dept uses. Select the format (Motorola is 1 sec followed by 3 sec). If you need along tone (all call) enter that freq in the 1st column and leave 2nd blank. Use location 1 for your primary unit. 2. Once you make your tone table go to [Sig...

Most any Vertex dealer should be able to help you out. Being an older radio it might take a while to get the parts. The company at this link http://www.rfwiz.com/HX381_Acc.htm has the cable listed. I've never ordered from them so I can't give a positive or a negative response. I've been impressed wi...

Splat: Yes, the sub-band and main band can be scanned at the same time. It's EXACTLY the same as any other programmed channel, except you have no TX on the subband. I use a combo VHF/UHF antenna because my main band is UHF and I have excellent reception on both bands. 60a: Yes - the subband is somet...

I'm using a VX-4200 UHF with the VHF sub and I've been very happy with it. The sensitivity seems the same and all of the other functions work the same as if it were a VHF radio (2-tone, PL/DPL, DTMF). There are times when I wish Vertex made a true daulband radio in this package, but this is the next...

No, not that I'm aware of (and I've done a LOT of playing with these radios). The only way I can think to do what you're wanting is to use the software and write the default program into the radio using the software. I'm guessing by the question you're wanting to sell the unit and not put more money...

Here are the instructions on HOW to program. http://www.fs.fed.us/fire/niicd/docs/vx_900_field_prog.pdf The info I found said the field programmer shorts pins 3 and 7 together to enter field programming mode. Additional info said to push and hold the PTT and LAMP when you power-up. I have NOT looked...

It doesn't sound like a bad price at all. I'd upgrade the battery pack though. I'm guessing what you're calling the "standard" battery is the FNB-64? It's only 700 mAh (and NiCd...YUCK!). You should be able to get a NiMH FNB-83 for only a minimal amount more. It's 1400mAh and will work wit...

Davie, You are indeed correct. The link was just to the mod. The info about the UHF mod came from an article I found online, but I'll be darned if I can find the blasted site now. I'm thinking about buying a 177 at the SEAPAC (swap meet) in June (if the price is right) and I'll give the mod a try an...

I have NOT looked at this radio, but I found a couple of articles that say it mods the same as the VX-170.
Here's a link http://www.ham.dmz.ro/yaesu/vx-170-expa ... and-rx.php

Hope it works.

The short answer... No. You can extend the time your priority channel is checked (under [Common] --> [Scanning] --> [Scan Parameters] it's from 1/2sec to 3sec check time). Another idea is to leave priority off and mess with the [Scan time 1] time. Maybe down to 1/4 second. (Not really a solution I k...
