FR3000 External Modulation Input

I'm setting up an FR3000 and would like to use the "External Mod B Input" (pin 9 on the 25 pin connector) to inject audio from another receiver's discriminator into the transmit path after pre-emphasis so that it's not preemphasized twice. I can inject a signal onto Pin 10, which injects t...

IC-F50V Paging Questions

I'm looking into migrating from Minitor III pagers to the Icom IC-50V for our department. However, the local dealer is telling me some things that aren't making a lot of sense to me. We currently use a long tone (i.e. group call) as our paging tone. I've been told that with a long tone, the radio ca...

Re: TK-790 No Audio Output

Doh! Found the problem. I was running the radio off of a battery while testing, and the battery voltage had dropped to about 9V, which is apparently too low for the audio amplifier to function. Hooked it up to a power supply and the power on beep darn near sent me through the roof...I had it turned ...

TK-790 No Audio Output

Hello all, I have a brand new VHF Dual Head TK-790 I'm trying to get going. My problem is that I'm not getting any audio out of the speaker. Actually if I put my ear right up to the speaker I can just barely hear the radio's output. This is the same whether I connect the speaker to the radio or the ...

Narrowband Splinter Channel Repeater from two TK-730G Radios

I'm wondering if it would be possible to build a narrowband-compliant repeater operating on a 7.5 kHz spaced channel with two TK-730G radios by purposely misaligning them both to be 2.5 kHz off of the programmed frequency. Since it would be a repeater, only one channel is needed and therefore being ...

Re: Horn Alert Question for TK-760G

Do you know where that might be in the software? I can't find it anywhere.

Thanks,

Andy

Horn Alert Question for TK-760G

I have a question about the horn alert feature of the TK-760G. I’m wondering how long (how many seconds) the Horn Alert pin is grounded when an alert is received. Is it a continuous alert, or is it pulsed (to honk the horn several times). Any info is appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Andy

How do they get away with saying that it will do 7.5 kHz spacing if it doesn't have a 2.5 kHz PLL reference? That blows. Radio salesmen are as bad as used car salesmen...worse in some ways. Jeesh.

IC-F3G 7.5 kHz spacing

Hi all, We have a few IC-F3G portables here and I'm having some trouble with getting the software to take some narrowband channels with 7.5 kHz spacing. Some of them work just fine. For instance, if I try to put in the VTAC channels, VCALL (155.7525), VTAC1 (151.1375), VTAC3 (158.7375) and VTAC4(159...

Yep you can do that. the 8800 is extremely versatile when it comes to scanning. As an alternative to using banks, you can use the 6 quick-configuration buttons on the front panel...just hit a button to change the entire radio setup. Get the FTB-8800 programming software...makes it much easier. Andy

Ok thanks! It appears that I can only set up one tone pair for encode. Am I interpreting that correctly? If so, then no matter what channel I'm on, when I hit the "call" button, the tone is sent. Is that correct?

Thanks,

Andy

That's kind of what I was thinking, but I don't see that as one of the keypad options. Anyone else have any details on how to make this work?

Thanks,

Andy

Icom IC-F3GS Two Tone Encode

I'm trying to figure out how the two tone encode works on the IC-F3GS. The help files in the programming software are close to useless. I see where to set the tone that you want to send, but how is it actually sent? Is it sent on PTT, or do you set up one of the keypad buttons for it? If so, what ke...
