Have you turned on the function within the "Common" environment? Can you upload - then change?...this works on my version V1.05

for what it's worth, I have always read the radio first to obtain its "rev". Then I input the parameters, frequencies, blah, blah... Just today, programming new VX-210A's; the computer software rev was 1.0...the radios read , was 2.03 (I think). Regardless, all programming went well...now ...

I have one more source coming into town in the A.M., will try for info...more to follow...

Try selecting a different COM port in the software...my IBM thinkpad will only talk to the radios when COM 2 is selected.

Here's what worked for me:
programing a FTL-7011 UHF. Toshiba 490CDT running WIN95 in DOS mode. Vertex CE7 v3.3 Was able to read radio after 6 attempts, change channel configuration and upload to radio. As mentioned, you want to use a slow computer.

hmm...I think you need the CT-70 adapter cable; this connects to the DIN connector on the VPL-1. Also see the link on "Vertex" radios on this site. There is a reference to a custom adapter. I'm still using the FTL-7011 in my truck...gotta be 7-8 years old by now.
