I have accomplised feeling like a complete idiot. I looked again and that is exactly what it said. One question, can I tell what the prevously used softawre was or should I buy the newest rss for the radio?

What does "VPU OLD !" mean?

I finally got my RIB to work but when I try to read from my TK-780 "VPU OLD!" flashes on the screen of the radio. What does it mean?

I think I know what the problem is. I was using a DB25 (COM3) connector for my RIB but in my rss I can only get up to COM2 and both of the COM2's are db9's ill give this a shot this week and post here if it worked.

reprogramming should work unless both paswords are set, which I doubt. The RIB can be built if you have experience soldering and the RSS can be found on line for cheap or free from the russian sites. I have a tk 780H that I have been trying to program for quite a while now with the DOS version of the RSS (kpg49d).
