are you sure your programming cable isn't intermittent?

maybe a loose connection - trd line loose etc ?

any luck on finding that 2 data line to 1 data line converter ?

looks like TRD means transmit and receive data -

the 690 shares data on pin 6 TRD

so you need a data combiner schematic - probably a resistor and a transistor etc -

a kpg-43 schematic would be great

thanks for any help

oh also works on 80 series radios as well as 40 series you still need a battery if you are doign the HT design i am testing now (once i get my 690 going) - on making a female adaptor so that you can plug the kpg4 into a 90 series radio by unplugging the mic from the mic head - if you get what i mean

it's 12v

- just run the 12v into the 78L05 and also i suggest .01 caps on each side of the 78L05 just in case

i have been using this method for years - the max233cpp is a nice step tho - saves a few caps

programmer

schematic looks great -

i use 6 from the radio - it has voltage on it

then you dont need an external source and dont have reverse polarity problems

would need an external pwr source for the HT version - but mobiles would work great without 1
