I second that statement

The VX-5 commander software has an export option. Export your VX-5R data, and import it into the VX-7R. My friend just upgraded to the 7R from a 5R, and that's how he did it. Worked well for him.

I can also confirm that the TK-3180 works well into the 441.000 ham bands. Works like a champ.

I use KPG48D to program these radios. I fill all 8 channels and select what of the 8 channels I want using the radios keys (in channel select mode).
