Can you reflash the firmware? Had a 8180 I got with some funky rare programming software required. Re-flashed it with the MDC1200 version and was able to use my standard Kenwood software.

Of course, the firmware programming would have to be enabled...

Not true, had one that didn't do IDs.

The 90 kits will NOT work. Different assemblies and plugs. Besides the krk-4db, you need the correct eeproms inside the radio (firmware). These are in the form of chips. I can't remember which is for which, but there's a FAA, FAB, FAC, and FAD. One is for standard dash mount or remote mount, one is ...

There are many different types of "scramble." You'd have to find out which one you are using to see if that radio can function in that manner.

Yeah, the V and U decks were switched as to which was #1 and #2. I uploaded the programming without making the corrections. Changed the designee and reuploaded.

Side note - this radio's been gone from the truck for nearly a year.

Bought a couple of these off eBay for my vollie group. However, I'm thinking they're the wrong split. Anyone know what mHz the -2 covers (TK-860HG-2)? Also, need to know if -1 covers the 450-470 area, which is what I need?

All you need is a couple of 24C16 DIP style EEPROMS. Mouser or Digikey will sell them for a buck or 2 apiece. I can email you the installation instructions. Digikey has a "minimum order" of $10 I think. If under that, they tack on $5. Not sure about Mouser. I have these, PM me and I can h...
