Re: Whats really in the ANC/PRC127 EFJ radio?
Hey all. Adam, Looks like the conversion to dash mount will work out, I'll try it tonight and if so, I'll get the old pigtail out to you. I.S. I have confirmed that all the same lines for programming available through the mic connector are mirrored through the db-15, so I was on the right path there...

Re: efj 5300 programming interface
So, I'm having trouble. I'm trying to read a 5300, 242-5326. Radio was a rear mount, tray only . I bought a few remote heads off ebay. I'm trying to get it up and running as a front mount before I spend any real $$ on remote cables. One of the heads was missing the pigtail, so I moved it to the fron...

efj 5300 programming interface
Hello all. I'm wondering if there is a schematic for the RPI for a 5300 mobile. I understand that there is a rs-485 interface Any information would be helpful.

Re: Taking 5100 out of band.
There is a 380-470 bandsplit version out there. One of the advantages of the new RF board in the more recent radios. Probably brought out to work on the 380mhz trunked systems for the government.

Well, I swept the filter with the network analyzer, and while modelling the filter as specified using rfsim99 shows a falloff around 52 mhz. http://will.bartlett.net/midland.jpg Here's a schematic of the filter. http://will.bartlett.net/schematic.jpg the true response on the analyzer looks like it f...

SYNTECH II 70-0520CWB issues
Hi ALl. I have a batch of these, and I have been digging through the schematics and comparing the PA assembly to the C model. A little background. The CWB Syntech II is a 37-48 MHZ radio, It has 2 seperate VCO's per tx and rx. I have everything but the PA happy in the 52-53mhz range. Power falloff i...

If it's not too much of a hassle, go in and check that ALL the screws are tight. I'd think about removing the antenna from the 830 and seeing if the problem persists. Too bad it's a dual setup, probably be a pain to pull it out of the car and check on the bench. 100khz doesn't ring a bell for the x3...

The preselector is a tracking unit, it follows a 1 mhz wide slot surrounding the center frequency, and I measured loss of intelligibility at 50mhz at roughly -118dbm, and at 54 mhz it's only a db or so up. very useable. We have many of them out in mobiles and they perform VERY well. I'll try to do a...

OK, In case there hasn't been any info released elsewhere, We have 690's up on the whole 6m band. It will involve a hex edited codeplug, and some brass rod stock. On the RF board, under the shield casting, there are 2 vco coils. If you insert about 3/16 of an inch of 1/8 in rod stock and RTV them in...

looking for a couple kch3 or kch4
Hi All. Anyone here have a kch3 or kch4 for the x30 series of kenwood radios they might want to part with? Please email if so.
Thanks, Will

Well, I'm not sure. I don't have a uhf MRK-II to check with. If I remember correctly, I believe the UHF band sense resistors were somewhere 10 and 22 Kohm. The variable resistor I had only went to 10k. I did notice below 1k, it would show as a 398-430 radio. So the other bandsplits are probably spri...

MRK VCO Adjust?
Looking through the mrk documentation, I don't see an adjustment point vor VCO sterring. I'm obviously trying to bet my 150-174 to transmit down to 144. Any specivic component values anyone knows of?
Thanks, Will

MRK "special" bandsplit value. With caveat
OK, After risking divorce with the amount of time I've spent with my MRK this last week, I have made some headway with the special bandsplit resistor value. I believe what I have found is a true Hack, as it is not a permanent solution. I removed the 4.7Kohm resistor (r142) and soldered in a variable...
