And It looks like I ended up with a version 4.10.11 radio. Wondering what version of PCC I need to talk to this.
Many thanks, Will

Re: MPA 220 conversion info?
Wow, This may be the oldest revived thread I've ever seen. Anyway, I think I had a little luck with editing the radio file. If memory serves, it was an N-counter trick. Find the base frequency, count the number of channel steps to your frequency of interest in 5khz steps, and enter that number in th...

Re: EFJ 5100 PTT Sidetone
I believe in radio wide options, there is a clear tx alert tone. I don't think it's a per-channel tone. It's just the key beep, but it's an excellent way to remind yourself 'others are listening, now might not be the time to swear at the guy who just cut me off in traffic', or so I've been told. you...

Have you tried 293? also, in pcconfig, isn't there a digital squelch check box in the upper left corner?

Re: 5300 100W Amp - How it Works
Done this a half dozen times. Remove both semi-rigid lines inside the main radio body, and remove the bias/switching line (late, tired, don't remember which it is) and then jump across the spot on the RF out trace with solderwick, or a piece of brass shim stock correctly sized. Then you need to deci...

p7100ip version question
Hey All. I'm investigating a few low-uhf p7100 radios I got at dayton last year.
They show the following in the revision screen
flash j2p09a07
dsp f7p02b08
pers version 31.00
prom ver 01 02/03
What version of what do I need to read this?
Many thanks, Will

Evening All. So, I can certainly confirm that this device U39, Avago model MGA-71543 is the cause of the unhappiness with my radio. I was concerned about D4, which as if happens , is a fet capable of handling 3A of current.. I'm not worried about it. I'm going to look at sensitivity, but a quicklook...

Alright, I ordered the appropriate parts today, actually enough for 10 radios. I'll report on results later this week or next when they get here. If it's a success, I'll offer to do repairs if anybody needs help. Will work for beer .......

Don't have a new enough service manual to decode this. using the old template, I assume this was made in the 23rd week of 2005. Does the T=Texas?

Hi all. I too have the same issue here with a vhf rev 4. I've isolated my issue to what I believe to be an LNA, refdes u39, associated with D4. I'll ping a few folks to see if I can get a copy of the schematic or at least part numbers. It's hot to the touch, not normal under most circumstances for s...

Re: MODEL STRING DECODE REQUESTS ONLY
Hi All. I have 2 legacy 5100 VHF. 242-5113-310-gf. I dug through the archives and these were described as legacy radios, which is fine as they weren't that expensive. I wanted to know if the legacy controllers supported DES in the DSP? reading the options in 1.24.00 and 1.31.1 shows identical respon...

Hey All. Made this Sticky, added the "POLL" to the subject so it was obvious what was going on.
I loves me my 5100, also like the 5300 so far. Excellent RF performance.

Re: 146mhz limitations on 100W radios
So, The modification from 110 watt back to 50 watts is fairly simple. The lower frequency limitation of 146 mhz remains. Is there some way to get around this in software? my radio will program 145.11, for example, but I get a error with the radio when I try to go to that channel. Any thoughts?

Dayton? Eyeball?
Anybody from The group going to Dayton? I'll be on the WA1NVC 927.5875 131.8pl repeater.
Probably listening to to 446.2 or 434.025 in P25 NAC293 too.
I'll be there Friday only.
Call is N1PXA.
Try me if you're out there.

Re: 5300 Microphone connector damaged
You can order the parts for the connector from Digikey. I bought a few to make up programming cables. they're about 7$ each in small quantity. Keep in mind that the pins are a seperate part #. Also, you will need to have or have access to an Amp or Hirose pin crimper, doing these with Pliers is a pa...
