You can program it by channel in the software. But that is the only way unless you make your own system like Jim described.

I see you can get the dispatch software to allow you to send all the text and status messages via fleetsync with a connected 80-series radios. This is not idea for a public safety dispatch system since the last thing we need is more software and computer screens and more manual typing. I see the rad...

I'm using a mix of BOT and EOT and some BOTH on our fleet of x90 and x180 radios. It should work flawlessly.

The 90-Series does not require user input to go into programming. As soon as you hit read or write, it will do it on it's own.

The older but similar 30 series required programming mode.

I have a 3180 that I issued to myself for the FD. I love it. I still am not a fan of continuous rotary channel selectors but if you are competent with the radio, it will be fine.

If a user is used to having no tone and no wait at all for 50 years, it is not so easy. Teaching an old dog new tricks is difficult, which is why the continuous side tone is kind of like the electric fence.

In my limted number of years programming Motorola and Kenwood radios, a sidetone is a tone emited from the speaker while the digital PTT-ID is being sent to prevent the user from trying to speak. On Motorola radios, the sidetone is continuous from when you push the PTT button to when the ID is sent....

Say what??? I want a sidetone for the entire time leading up to the PTT-ID. Right now, it just beeps once the PTT-ID sent.
