Kenwood TK-3160 problem after programming failure
All - I have a problem with a TK-3160. The radio was working fine. After apparently suffering a couple of communications failures during programming, the radio started emitting a continuous tone and flashing the LED red and orange alternately. Turning the radio off and on results in the same thing h...

Updating firmware on older EFJ-5100's
All - I have two EFJ 5100 radios, both of which I believe are "legacy" models (i.e. no longer supported): 252-5182-888, firmware 1.11.5 (800MHz) 242-5117-660-G82, firmware 2.4.6 (VHF) I'd like to update the firmware on the radios, but I'm not sure what the latest firmware is that will work...

EFJ5100 strange DCS issues
All, I'm having two odd DCS decode issues with my EFJ 5100 VHF. Any help or suggestions appreciated. First, when scanning, if the radio stops on a channel that has a DCS tone set, the audio will cut out for about 0.5 seconds every couple of seconds (this is not the priority scan cutting in). This do...

Icom IC-W2A strange crossband repeat problem
All, I'm trying to use an Icom W2A as a crossband repeater (extended receive mod followed by F-2 and F-Enter; VHF as main band). All seems to go well, except that the radio doesn't seem to transmit any PL tones in this mode. When I transmit out of crossband mode, the PL tones are transmitted fine, s...

TK-780 / 880 cross band repeater
Does anyone know if it is possible to use a Kenwood TK-780 with a TK-880 as a crossband repeater, in the same kind of way as can be done with some Icoms? If so, I'd be really grateful of any information someone could point me to as to how to do this
Thanks - David

Battery options for TK-250 - AA or Li-Ion?
Hi I have a TK-250, and am looking into other battery options than the NiMH one I have. Does anyone know if there are there any alkaline AA packs available for this radio, and if so where to get them? I know they are available for other Kenwood radios (e.g. KBP-1). I'm also interested in Li-Ion pack...
