Re: EFJ 5100 "Bad band"
Well, This one is truly a tricky one, don't know why the radio is hung up unless someone tried to mess with the radio in a bad way. Intriscally Safe should be able to confirm the firmware-to-PCConfigure version to verify you using matching versions. Aside from there being something awfully wrong wit...

Re: EFJ 5100 "Bad band"
Okay, when you read the codeplug, is it in fact the last codeplug you wrote to it?
In other words we're checking to make sure it is in fact accepting the codeplugs you are writing out to it and not stuck with a bad one that was previously jammed into it.

Okay, forget the stickers and read in the serial number minus the last five digits, and let us know what it is.

Re: Will EFJ support ADP in the future?
I know this is a very old post, but the answer is 99% NO. This is like asking if Ford will ever have OnStar on their vehicles. ADP is a Motorola patented encryption standard, not a published federally approved draft that any manufacturer could use. It is designed as a cheap implementation of encrypt...

Re: 53SL ES Reboot
Tell us a little about what the radio does most of the day. Is it in a (hot) car? Is it stationary in a (air conditioned) building? Does it sit on a single conventional frequency? Is it scanning? Is it on a trunked talkgroup? Is it scanning trunked talkgroups? Does it turn off and stay off? Or does ...

Re: EFJ 5100 "Bad band"
danneskjold, Give us the following information: 1 - The radio model number if it has a sticker to help determine what band it is, --- If there is no sticker, read radio parameters to get the serial number and give that 2 - What version the firmware on the radio is when you boot it 3 - What version o...

Re: VHF 5100 rev.4 radios with bad RX boards/faulty SMDs...
It may be a good idea to post the serial/series number for the radios having this issue. Maybe we can figure out if it came from a specific plant or lot.
Post ALL BUT THE LAST FIVE DIGITS as some manufacturing info is encoded there.

Re: Scan lists for the 5100 and 5300 radios
If you have an older radio with older firmware what you have stated is correct. Back in the day, in Conventional you could only have 3 scan lists and each time you pressed scan it would cycle between the lists. I.S. Absolutely true for the older radios. So Jim, you have two choices: 1) Stay with th...

Re: MODEL STRING DECODE REQUESTS ONLY
Can someone decode my VHF FPP 5100 242-5117-660-GS2 and what PC Config? I have 2.1.0, but I had no luck reading or writing. Please, and Thanks You have the original series AN-PCR127A, you'll need v1.28 of PCC for that radio. The radio should do P25, OFB and AES, FPP, Digital SN/SZ and possibly P25 ...

Re: 5300 cloning?
The anti-cloning is primarily a means to prevent trunking data to be copied from radio to radio. However, cloning is most definitely a feature EFJ has addressed by implementing the Unit ID wizard on the software. The unit ID wizard allows you to create (increment values) about how all of the fleet's...

Re: 5300 w/handheld control-which connector for program plug?
I've not made this particular cable, but have made other custom HHCH cables. If you have the standard flat ribbon cable-to-hirose male connector (normally for the RS-5300) that comes with the RPI, you can make your own adapter by cutting an old 40-pin IDE ribbon cable and ordering the Hirose female ...

Re: 5100 series 4 Question.
Since you seem to care enough to be interested in the performance of these radios, heed my advice: No matter what vendor you choose Motorola of EFJ, the factory tuning is always a quick-tune and not an exhaustive measurement. Both vendor's factory tunes are not that close to where the radio could pe...

I would like to know the details of the following model number: 242-5318-201AAAB4 If it helps, the s/n is: 5318H5005T38599 I know this is a remote mount, VHF. I would particularly like to know if it is narrow band (12.5 kHz) capable. Many thanks. de KA7GZH 5300 Series (not SL) Mobile 512 Channels 5...

Re: 5100 series 4 Question.
Series 4 were the first rf decks EFJs did (sub contracted). They are not based on the saber deck. IMO they are equal to an XTS3k but not close to an XTS 5k. I.S. Elaborate if you can on what you mean when you say "not close" to the 5000. I hope you only meant the 5100 ver 4 is not a Zero-...
