tk-3160 channel knob
I have a tk-3160 and the knob will only go to channel 5 without forcing it. Is there a mechanical stop under there that the dealer or prior owner installed? If so how do you remove it?
Thanks in advance

EF Johnson radio tracking policy
I recently tried to purchase MDC-1200 for one of my 5100 radios. Apparently EF Johnson tracks every single radio. Or at least they try to. they refused to sell me the upgrade because my radio was not in their system. So my particular radio was either stolen or chipped out of EF Johnson's inventory a...

Re: Need Some Help With New Vertex 929
Hey guys, I just got a VX-929. I was just wondering if any of you knew what setting I should use for the mic gain as well as other settings for the best sound on TX. Also the best setting for squelch to recieve the best. When I say this I mean to recieve weak signals with no problem but not have th...

Re: MPA Keys
Hi Guys, i'm new to the board, i have lurked for a while, then i decide to sign up yesterday. So, here comes the question: i have a big lot of brand new MPA's, and i'll like to use them as a point to point links to connect remote sites to my club central repeter. Since it will be nice to use the di...

Re: New to programming- VX 510L
You need real dos and a real serial port no adapters.
Make sure your cable has the really small phono plug. When looking at the radio you plug the cable into the really small jack on the bottom.
I am in NY and have the correct setup if you fail.

Re: VX-500 and VX-510 difference?
Besides the two little ridges on the top I think the only difference is that the 510 will do narrowband on a per channel basis.cybercavern wrote:Can some one tell me what the differences is in the VX-500 and the VX-510?
They use different software but the same batteries and accessories.

Re: VX-537 question
I have both radios and I love both. I tend to grab the 920 more than the 537 as it has a more ergonomic feel. The 920 is also waterproof so I don't have to worry in the bad wx. Both are as rugged as the come nowadays. I also have the cimmaron 200 board in the 920 and I can confirm it works well. It ...

Re: Icom IC-F30LT field programmable?
First let me say it is much easier to program the radio through the RSS with a cable. I would be happy to do it for you for the postage. Secondly use this procedure at your own risk! OK I have not completely hacked this, as this is a very closely guarded company secret. To get the radio into dealer ...

Re: POLL === You like yours EFJ 5100 Series radio? ===
My experience with EF Johnson has been very pleasurable. I picked up several 5100 and 51sl radios in a package deal with some other surplus radios. First let me give some background. I worked for and agency that used XTS-3500R radios (one of the first agencies to buy these). The radios worked margin...
