I had forgotten about the differences in case size. Thanks for reminding me. That all makes sense now. I carry my 51XX with me all the time and was thinking it would be nice to use it as a mobile. Guess I will go back to carrying my XTS. Thanks again,
Adam

Re: Siren/PA Module for 5300 mobile radio
That is pretty much what I gathered from the service manual after looking through it last night. I'm thinking I can use a external air horn device and activate it from the switch panel on the radio. What PA units have you seen used?

Siren/PA Module for 5300 mobile radio
Has anyone ever seen this module or have any experience with using a PA module? I'm more interested in the PA/ external radio functions than the siren mode. Thanks for any information.

Re: 146mhz limitations on 100W radios
if thats the case, then it must be a firmware limitation. I wonder if we were able to get a firmware update, if that would change things. I tried to get the guy in Texas to sell me a radio at the $150 price but he said no. So its still all guesswork for now.

146mhz limitations on 100W radios
Hello IS, do you know if the 146mhz limitation is caused by the 100w PA? I have a bunch of 5300's with low power that go all the way down to 136mhz. If I remove the pa will I be able to transmit down to 136mhz.

That sucks, I will not be there until Saturday. Maybe next time. Adam Anybody from The group going to Dayton? I'll be on the WA1NVC 927.5875 131.8pl repeater. Probably listening to to 446.2 or 434.025 in P25 NAC293 too. I'll be there Friday only. Call is N1PXA. Try me if you're out there. Will

I'm wondering if the factory deleted the FPP option because he is or was not a goverment or military agency or representative. This is an assumption on my part.

Re: Stealth 5300 - convert dash mount to remote mount
Hello, I am in the middle of this same project. It can be done, but the cost is pretty expensive. The cost for parts, not including the new remote control head, are about $400.00 shipped from EFJ, and that is a discounted price. There are some heads around but a new one would be very expensive. I fo...

Re: Whats really in the ANC/PRC127 EFJ radio?
Thanks Will, I guess I should just get the cd with the manual info to you in the mail. Send me your address in email and I will just pop it in an envelope and send it over. I found a piece of cable today that will work just perfect for the remote interconnect cable. Im going to chop off the Hirose c...

Re: Whats really in the ANC/PRC127 EFJ radio?
its the same for me...I hate making work for myself. I was wondering of you have seen the pin-out difference between the XTS programming and the EFJ cable? I wonder if it just a matter of moving some of the spring-loaded pins around in the connector? I picked up most of the manuals and product guide...

Thanks for the info IS! I will see the radio on Thursday and will read just what it has in it.
I have the software and cable. I wonder if it is worth it to upgrade the firmware?

Whats really in the ANC/PRC127 EFJ radio?
Hello All, regarding all these 5100's showing up for sale, has anyone who has purchased one actually read the radio to see what options are really enabled? I see what they are capable of but what are they really equipped with? I just purchased a 5117-660-GS4 but just realized I have no idea what opt...
