Looking for info on Transcrypt International over the air encryption board programing modem...model number is TR30-3010 ... but any similar model would be interesting to see the documentation.

Thanks!

Re: BEWARE efj44astro Deal going bad..

I have been trying to get him to return two EFJ5100 radios for over a year now. I have sent him several certified letters, which he did indeed receive, but no response. I have considered filing a mail fraud complaint, but I am not sure if USPS will listen after a year. Worth a shot in your case.

Re: Information of antenna for EFJ 5100 series!

If you want EFJ ones, you'll have to find an EFJ dealer. See the efj www site for dealers.
Antennas for Motorola XTS-5000 will work too.

If you just want a cheap aftermarket one to experiment with, you can find 'em on ebay. Search "sma-f antenna".

Re: 53SL ES Ext Speaker not working

How many speakers do you have on the radio, and how are they connected? I'm not familiar with "how the siren box works"...however, you could try connecting the external speaker directly to pins 1 & 2 of the radio accessory connector (that's the black one) as an experiment to see what w...

Re: 5300 ES External speaker

If I understand correctly-you swapped in another radio using the same cables. Internal speaker works, external doesn't...correct? Well, then, it ain't the radio. Both internal and external speakers use the same common audio amp - If the internal speaker works the audio amp is working. FWIW, audio am...

Re: 5300 ES External speaker

HHC is the handheld controller....BIG mic with a display and a keypad on it. The standard head is rectangular and you'd have a plain mic. The internal speaker is wired with a jumper from acc pins 1-3, external spkr connects to 1 & 2 as you said. So...if the internal works OK, the speaker audio i...

Re: 5300 100W Amp - How it Works

Thanks Will.

Wasn't sure if the extra wire could be removed without angering the main unit.

I have no need for more than 50W anyway, and the lower power consumption would be well worth it.

Thanks...1A it is! Out of several I've worked on, NONE have a fuse in the sense line.

Re: 5300 Ign sense line...needs fused?

That's what I was wondering. Some radios, like my GE Delta, use the switched hot lead to power everything except the PA - so you don't want to stick too small of a fuse on it. So if it's just a sense line, a 1A or even .25A would be fine...small inline fuseholders are certainly cheap enough. Thanks!

5300 Ign sense line...needs fused?

The "switched hot" or "Ignition sense" line that goes through the accessory connector...does it actually power any logic on the radio...or is it indeed just a sense line?

I'm debating whether it should have a small ~1-3A fuse in it or not...

Re: Who wants 5300 accessory connectors cheap?

I just received the Accessory connectors; I also got a few of the the female side (radio side) ones. I didn't get charged customs duty :) so the price will stay at 3/$10. 1/$5 3/$10 6/$15 12/$25 Prices include First Class mail shipping in US. Mix or match; i.e if you want 10 males and 2 females for ...

Extra wire?

In addition to Power and RF in/out, there is 1 wire near the center of the 100W PA that goes back to the main chassis.

SWR monitor? Bias?

Anyone have a manual for the 100W handy?

I'm curious...should I decide to attempt a downgrade of a 100W radio...can i just disconnect and cap it?

Re: 5300 100W Amp - How it Works

More thoughts...

Assuming a 100W CAN be converted to a 50W...it would save approx 15 AMPS on transmit as well as a lot of space/weight.

The PA is 200W...200W / 14volts = 14.285A. Nothing is 100% efficient, so figure it takes at least 15+ amps just to run the 100W PA.

5300 100W Amp - How it Works

Interesting... The 100W radio starts off as basically a 50W radio, MRF247 (75W rated) final. The 50W goes out of the main chassis to the amp chassis. The 50W goes through a 2-way 3dB hybrid power splitter/combiner, now you have 2 x 25W outputs 25W from each side of the power splitter goes to 2 x 6dB...
