Sorry, no go; it's not just the READ authorization password that's been set, it's the OVERWRITE password. Do you have an existing 2180 file you can load to the software? if so, you can use that and then just shoot it to the radio, it will overwrite everything including the password. If you dont have an existing file, open the software and go to Model, then pick TK-2180, click OK. a warning will appear, ...

shouldn't there be a stopper. but to check, you gonna have to remove the case. to do this:
1. unscrew the 2 chassis screws
2. pull out on/off knob
3. remove front case assembly
4. pull out ch knob, should see a white plastic spacer under the ch knob.

why CES? any special application? KMC-28 is the factory DTMF mic for the TK-690. Its noise cancelling too.
