Radio Info Wiki

Hey, we've been spitballing about a Wiki over at the Batboard for a bit. Admins: installerate MediaWiki on the website and let's get this kicked off. There's no reason to make it Motorola specific; many of of are switch hitters to GE or Midland. DO EET! =D

Re: Looking for a Niles programmer...

The software is free for download. The S990 head data produced is a binary image that may be programmed directly to an EEPROM. I do not know about other heads/data.

Re: S950/990 Direct Frequency Entry

Ok, got that settled. Does anyone know if the Niles S990 software is written smart or is it hard-coded into assembly loops like RSS and can't be run under a new computer?

Re: S950/990 Direct Frequency Entry

If you set the radio up as a 32-channel radio with 4-banks of channels, will the radio scan 32 channels or only 16?

I'm trying to decide to do 16*8 or 32*4.

Shoot, the detective cars will outrun the patrol cars now... The hybrid is no slouch.

Shoot, I'm almost of the mind to buy a gas station so I have a good reason to apply for a license to some of the petroleum company channels down on VHF lowband.

Re: Wideband v.s Narrowband

Not to mention that you can only use type accpeted radios for FRS. They have to be built for that service or can be hybrids what conform to the FRS standards. FRS is limited to .5 watts and the radio cannot have a detachable antenna. So you cannot program your 45 watt Spectra on FRS and be legal. B...

Re: System Setup

License search will be about $150, license will be about $50, repeater will be about $2000 - $10000, tower will be about $7,500 - $75,000 (installed).

Still sure you want to do this?

Re: Ma/Com History

Now here's a good question... what products were released under each name?

I've found a radio that says "GE Ericsson" but I can't find pictures of it anywhere that match the radio.

Re: Milcom 220Mhz RF Amps

ACSB IIRC is single-sideband, so the amp should be linear, which means (barring poor IMD response) that you can put up more than one repeater using the same PA at one location.

what's the stats on the server? how loaded is it? what kind of traffic loads does it have?

PHP and MySQL shouldn't be that much of a load... a PPro 200 should more than suffice, but it should have reasonably fast (7200 RPM) hard drives.
