Ok. The question the chief had for me is, will the stock head that come with the radio work, and what does the kit contain? Rought street price?

Looking at doing a lowband 690. Does the stock head allow future dual radio setups, or will another head have to be ordered?

We are looking at getting a 690 now, and at some point adding a 2nd lowband or a VHF radio in the trucks.

Is there any way that a plain jane person pick up one of those nice 30-512MHz portables, or is it restricted to goverment contracts only?

The full blown OpenSky radio's aren't that much (realitively)..something like 1500-3000 contract pricing for mobiles, depending on model. However, you can ONLY buy them direct from MA/COM (no dealers) and only thru the contract if so authorized.

If you had an Opensky radio and wished to monitor the system, does the radio need to affliate like the SmartZone radio's do, or can it be used passively?

I have some spare cash set aside, and would like to pick up a M802 mobile to rx only.

I bought one of those cables on a thrus, and it was at my door mon mornining. I thought I had a bum cable, but it ended up being a computer issue. He had a replacement cable up in no time.

I saw what could be described as a "A7" head for the Orion. Are heads interchangable without a problem or is it a pain in the ass like the motorola radios? What additional functions are gained?
