Tekk XV/XU-1000
Didn't see a Tekk forum here... I have traditionally heard bad things about Tekk Radios. However.. this XV/XU-1000 caught my eye. Anyone have any experience with one? Specifically... can you actually name channels or just call them "ChXXX"? http://www.tekk-radios.com/downloads/Tekk%20X-100...

FTL-1011 Scan
I have a bunch of Vertex FTL-1011 radios here that I am trying to program... They are working fine except for one minor issue.. I can't get them to scan! Does anyone have any idea how to make this work? I am trying to program them for user-programmable scan, and I can't even get them to go into scan...

Has anyone been successful getting a 450-480 split GX4800UT on the ham band?

FT-8800R Power Level
Is there any way to lower the "LOW" setting on an FT-8800R to around 200mw as opposed to 5 watts? I frequently use my radio in crossband mode to repeat important traffic to a portable or pager, but it drains my battery.

Re: TK3160 Headset Adapter
Forgot to mention. Besides an Waris adapter a jedi could work also, or even a TK-380. I would prefer to stay with a Motorola portable though for the sake of standardizing my equipment.

TK3160 Headset Adapter
I have been using a Kenwood TK3160 on a UHF repeater system at work with a Pryme headset issued by my employer. I have found that the TK3160 does not provide very good coverage in the building (around 1 million square feet, 28 floors). I'd like to program up an HT1250 to use, but using the headset i...

Re: TK-730(G) Programming Issues
Are you trying to load in a 32ch codeplug or a 160ch codeplug? If you try to load a 160ch codeplug into a radio that only does 32ch the RSS will go through the 8K writing process and then show end, and all you will have on the screen are random characters.

Re: TK-730(G) Programming Issues
Was it from the City of Mesa?
A friend of mine got two that i'm working on now. In order to read/write you have to hold down the first button next to the channel selector while powering it on.
Also beware that after I did the 160ch upgrade the radios will no longer scan at all.

Re: TK730 Scan
They've been set to "add" since the beginning. I am never dealing with another Kenwood product, i've never had issues this stupid with any of the Motorolas I have owned.
