Re: TK-2180 password

Sorry, no go; it's not just the READ authorization password that's been set, it's the OVERWRITE password.
Completely locked out unless we can figure out how to read the serial data stream or send it back to Kenwood.

Re: TKX30 Firware?

In my albeit limited experience, the G (narrow-capable) models had a fixed TX VCO and the normal
radios had adjustable VCOs. Referring to the high-split, of course.

eg. G models were a waste of time for Ham use. Since they didn't do 7.5KHz stepping they weren't
much use for narrowband either...

Re: TK380 VCO Lock?

I would wager it IS either a firmware or version issue, as I have a 380 that works
perfectly in 440. It's a version-1 radio, btw.

Although nothing is ever perfect.....my display is dead.

Re: TK-2180 password

So anyone ever sort a definitive answer to this? Read the serial bus w/ Winhex? Reset the whole thing and start from scratch? Got a pw-protected TK8180 and would rather not pay Kenwood to do it. Anyone?

Re: 150-174 MDX into ham band?

I'm almost positive that I was able to simply change the split in the settings and it just worked immediately as the other split. Now mind you, I only tried one 2m freq (don't remember which one, it was 2 years ago) and I never took it any further in any way (tuning, etc.) The radio belonged to a fi...

TK-941 Ham?

I thought I searched thoroughly for this, but I can't seem to find any reference-- anybody know if the
TK-941 will do the 900 Ham band? (assuming I haven't accidentally mixed up whether the 941 is
800MHZ rather than 900 MHz...)

Re: Need 730 service manual

Since the fire dept. that owns it is primarily using it for fire, (they're also hams) they've decided to live with it not working below 145.000. Thanks for the info-- it makes the decision easy. I still need a 30-series manual, BTW, if anyone comes across it, or decides to put the work into making a...

Need 730 service manual

I'm trying to adjust a TK-730H(G) (hi split) down to 144 and for some reason the TX VCO adjustment simply ISN'T THERE inside the hole in the VCO can. The RX adjustment IS and adjusts fine but there's just bare circuit board inside the TX hole (the left one as viewed from the front) All I can figure ...

Re: SC4 Files - Taboo???

OK thanks; I guess I'll keep my eyes peeled for an sc4 file.
If its similar, I'm sure I can figure it out as the sc file is a no-brainer.

Re: SC4 Files - Taboo???

I don't understand--those AREN'T .sc4 files (Which are proprietary); they're .sc files and they're NOT the same. They DON'T work with the Windows ProGrammer. You mean the opposite, right? Or am I missing something? I don't have the DOS program
so I'm screwed with my lowband Orion. Accurate?

vx-7r split tones

I'll be damned if I can figure out how to get split tones working on this radio....I enabled
the "split tone" feature in the setup- nothing. I even tried doing split frequencies (holding the
PTT when you write the channel)--all I get is the RX PL. Am I missing something?

VX7 900 MHz???

So can anyone tell me why the VX7 arbitrarily has a HOLE from 914.9875 to 944 MHz? Even after the freeband mod? Not a word about it in any of the literature. Is that the cellular range in BumF%#k Egypt or something? I'm not real happy to find I can't monitor our 900 repeater or even local commercial...

Re: Icom 2821 UHF P25 Weirdness

You probably checked this already, but just in case you didn't, it's amazing how badly a digital radio will perform if it's slightly off-frequency. It can manifest itself with slightly increased bit errors all the way to appearing to transmit fine, but receive not at all. I've also observed trunking...

Info for RPV3600A?

Hi,

Can anyone give me any info on which cable, software, etc is needed for an RPV3600A?
Also if you happen to know the capabilities (# channels, range, etc) It's a VHF radio, evidently.

Thanks.

Re: GE Suitcase .bin for CMX8630 + MLS?

In case anyone cares, (it's like 3+ years later); I ended up buying the prom from that dealer everyone knows (or rather I had the customer do it) It's amazing how cheap Sprint/Nextel is; they force my client to reprogram these stoneage radios, rather than just buying them new ones. In the end it pro...
