Well, I finally found a shop with a TK-3180 in stock. Beautiful radio! Nice features. I bought the programming s/w too and I'm also impressed with the interface. They must have hired real s/w programmers lately! icon_wink.gif I like that the same software will also do the TK-8180. That'll be my next...

Make sure you're NOT using a DOS window from inside Windows. You must use MS DOS, preferably 6.22 since it's the latest. Boot into DOS using a formatted floppy or hard drive that contains the DOS system files. Then you run the Kenwood s/w. You can screw up your radio attempting to read/write it from...

TK-8180 mobile or TK-3180 portable?
Anyone have a TK-8180 mobile or TK-3180 portable? Looking for opinions, complaints, etc. on either radio. They appear to have a lotta nice features, including 450-520MHz spread for UHF, and a wide spread for VHF too. I think they came out last September. Thanks.

Anyone have the new IC-F43G? Opinions, complaints? Also, I can't find any info on the scanning options. What are they? Thanks.

VX900 question
Well, it's time we switched from the big-M to a better brand. Looking at the VX900 it seems nice and I've heard mostly good about it. I have a question pertaining to the its scanning abilities. Can you do different scan lists for each zone/group, or set to each channel? Thanks.

I'm not a pro at GE radios but it would seem that you'd mess up the radio flashing it to conventional only. Maybe someone else here with more info can assist you. As for the hamflash files try http://www.radtek.ws/index.php

MPA scan question
I'm new to GE radios. I have an MPA System model with no priority channels setup (I believe) since I don't want priority scanning. However, the radio still operates in a priority scan method. Is there a way to totally disable the priority scan/lookbacks? I'm using 11.1 prog s/w. TIA.
