What service is he on? Are you talking Public Saftey, HAM, GMRS, Commercial?

I only see one version of the software on the Dealer Website for that radio.

That could be a conflict in the computer with the com port. I had that happen to me. It will drive you nuts until you figure out what the problem is. They will read fine but won't program.
