Sounds like it's ready for the scrap heap. It's installed in one of our black and whites and used for local government. Replacement radios are tough to find since upgrades are in the near future and repairing these is not high on the list. Thanks.....

GE Phoenix S Problem

I have the above radio that's in need of repair. It's a 16 channel VHF model. When the radio is powered on, it displays the red transmit light, channel or scan buttons don't function either. It has no response when the mic button is pressed and even though the red transmit light is on, it isn't thro...

Thanks for the replies....I decided to go the GM300 route first. At least these are durable radios and I already have a UHF model I like. I do have the capabilities to do the programming which helps. We'll see what happens....if it doesn't work out, it'll give me an excuse to make another purchase. ...

I'm looking for some input for a first time 2 meter radio that also has the ability to receive public service freqencies. I saw the above Kenwood...anyone have any experience with one? Is there a need for a lot of channels for 2 meter coverage or do you normally keep to a couple for local communicat...

What is the model number? I currently have one set up for GMRS. I can check my manual to see if it lists the spread.
