I can confirm that there are LPE-200s on Ebay that SAY they have 29 when you display their feature string, but in fact DO NOT HAVE provoice. I found this out the hard way, when I bought a radio that claimed to have provoice, but did not have the hardware to actually run it even if I had wanted to b...

chris, do you mean the radios use an ESN? like LTR Passport. with Passport, if you aren't logged-in and affiliating, you do not receive any site updates, but you CAN still turn off these features and monitor traffic. i'm assuming the OpenSky system is more like a digital cellphone network where up t...

charger sends "clicks" through radio to speakers..
i have an unorthodox LPE200 setup when i'm at home: when my LPE sits in the charger, i have the Mic hooked to a mono 3/32' cable that runs to a receiver powering my stereo speakers - i monitor several channels that are being scanned this way... unfortunately, when the LPE is at "fully charged&q...

Isnt a feature string in the LPE already in the radio and based on the serial number of the radio ? not if someone's been fooling with it...(the hex string, that is) it's also my understanding that the feature-encryption unlocking relies on ROM sn, ESN, and possibly another value...can't remember e...

"DIGV ERR" on LPE-200
there's an LPE up on ebay right now that seems to work fine other than generating this error when turned on a ProVoice System: "The feature data shows that the ProVoice feature is enabled but appears nonfunctional, when tested on a ProVoice system the radio shows "DIGV ERR" and does n...

oldest EDACS Programmer software that will handle ProVoice?
seems EDACS4 release 11 will program a ProVoice-capable LPE200, but will it also work for a 7100P? i recently read that EDACS4 release 13 is the latest? (june 2004) somewhere, there was a table describing what model MA/COM radio was programmable by which version of software...can't find it now. any ...
