Well--I said it was goofy; but I saw it work too. Only the UHF models have the problem as far as I know.

Sometimes the plastic on aftermarket or even Kenwood amateur cables does not let the male ends enter the radio far enough. It usually only is a problem on the UHF model. This sounds goofy but a way to test for this is to spit on the male plug before you plug it into the radio and see if it works. If...

You can open those files in wordpad, and print them out; or if you want to make them really pretty after saving them as a .txt file open them in word and "reformat" to your liking.

Each help file must be opened separately.

They won't open as windows help files as you found out.

TK-3160 Programming Problem

Having trouble adding a new freq to a TK-3160. It keeps saying check the connection. I'm sure the kpg-22 is ok because it works on other radios such as 2160 and 3101. I'm thinking the guy that programmed it last might have used the wrong software or something. (He died last June) Any tricks to putti...

I'm surprised that software will run at all on XP. I keep and old pentium II with win 98 on it and always run the Kenwood software fron ms-dos as the older Kenwood programs won't work reliably even in a dos window.
