Frank Seeing you've mastered the OOB for the MRK and the Orion uses the same software. It sounds like your plan would on Orions too! Fowler Actually, maybe not. I have not tried it on the Orion, I don't have one anymore. I did hear from someone who has tried it on an Orion and it seems the Orion ha...

I have not tried it on an Orion but I'm guessing it would work the same way since the raw code is almost identical. Just be sure to read my post on this carefully and follow the instructions as described.

F.Y.I., I think I have Isolated this "Special Code" the program looks for before writing the radio. I am now working to make that special code accessable to the end user without doing the above described hex mode but for right now the above described method is the way to go. As soon as i h...

That may be, I am just happy the radio is working 440-470 mhz now.
Apparently the A1 Rf section is a hybrid that will work the entire spread 403-470 mhz, the old designation for the 470-500 Mhz deck was A5.
Either way , I am happy now and can use the radio!

GE MRK 470-500 TO 440-470 MHZ!! UPDATE-SUCCESS!

Well I have now discovered that any "Switchable"MRK radio is just that- Switchable, as in band splits!! I had a 470-500 here that is now working great as a 440-470 mhz with no re-tuning!! I simply had to flash the controller to a 440-470 mhz split and now I am in business. One additional t...

These MRK's I picked up have a flash code of G30-3.01, I am guessing this is a very basic flash, does anyone know?? And what would be the most current flash version??

I know the MPA's are pretty easy to re-tune for adjacent bandplits but can I re-tune this MRK for 440-470 mhz operation??? I was told that it has the same components as the 440-470 mhz , it just needs to be re-tuned, anyone have an opinion on this??

Good source for MRK 3 Refurb kits??

I have some MRK 2's that I may re-case as MRK 3 full keypad radios. I stopped in at the local PD hop, they use MRK 2's and had a few apart for service and it seems that everything is inside the MRK2 to upgrade it with a full keypad housing. Anyone know where I can get some at a resonable price??? Al...
