70-9020 mobile info needed

This is an 800mhz mobile and I would like to program it to conventional rather than trunked freqs if this is possible. Does it use the xtr program cable? What program?
Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks to all.

Re: Icom Mod. 2

Thanks for the info. I already had a 2AT the this radio appears to have been made for the 150mhz band as it does not have any repeater shift switches or tone pad like my 2AT. I think this radio came from reserve in a local PD. It does not seem to have much use despite its age.

Icom Mod. 2

I just got this radio thinking it was a for 2 meter ham use (I thought it was a Mod. 2A) but when tested I found it covers 150 - 159.995. It uses thumbwheels and appears to be simplex only without any tone provision. There is a single switch on the back for high and low power. Any additional info wo...

The problem with early VX 150's was apparently the delay in pl decode that you describe. I haven't noticed any such problem with the ones my friends purchased which I assume to be later production.

As I recall, the U-400 is programmable from the faceplate (after removing the mic). Then why would you need to clone the radios?

Speaking of the VX-150. A couple of my friends just bought them and I was quit impressed. I read an online review about many problems with the early production and it looks like they have solved scan and tone problems . They are very rugged (o ring seal) and the performance is excellent. I did find ...

I think the Icoms in question use the EX 704 programmer. It is a small stand alone unit that is very time sonsuming to use.

I believe what you have is one of the Syntech I series of radios. These units are programmed via an eprom mounted on a small circuit board. Usually this is identified by an opaque sticker oner the window on the eprom. The eprom is read on a stand alone programmer then erased with ultraviolet light (...

VX-10 programming

I recently worked on a VX-10 that allowed user programming of frequency and tones. I was told that this was a "dealer demo" unit that had a modified front panel to allow this.
Anyone have more info?
