Link is good for 7 days from now.

This is the manual for the M-PA which includes the pinout of the UDC flex. The M-PA is the same pinout as the M-PD

Re: Need Opinion for a purchase

In my county we use both radios, and the Icom F60 (we are UHF) hold up better and are more liked by those that carry them.

Another factor is the accessories and programming stuff which is much cheaper on the Icom side.

Version question on Kenwood gear

First let me open by saying that I am a Motorola GE and lately Vertex guy, with almost no Kenwood experience. With that said. I am working on a job for a customer, a small town DPW. They have a mixed fleet of radios, which includes some Kenwoods. One radio in the fleet is the TK-7160 there are some ...

Re: VX-800 display blinks and no receive

I have a UHF VX-800 that doesn't receive and the display blinks while the radio is on. The radio transmits fine. I have tried uploading the default program back into it and the radio does the same thing. It programs ok, transmits ok, but doesn't receive anything. The green light never comes on. The...

Re: EF JOHNSON 5100 = AN/PRC-127EFJ Portable Radio

It's $96.00 for the cable direct from EF Johnson. They will sell it to anyone via the 800 number. You can make one yourself but it's cumbersome to get it to work correctly. They also have killer tech support, unlike another company I know that refuses to speak with end users. They also have a ftp si...

Re: VX-920 2 tone decode problems

I tried the beep level parameter with no luck.

This is a link to the codeplug

Maybe if you get it to work, It could be a hardware or firmware problem with this radio.

VX-920 2 tone decode problems

Hello, I am setting up a vx-920 in VHF for a volunteer FF. I want to have the radio setup on one channel for off duty 2 tone paging on his depts tones. Can anyone recommend a good trusted set up parameters to get this to work? Right now I have it working, but when the radio opens it seems to stuck a...

Re: Vertex Problems ?

Firmware has never been an issue for me. I avoid upgrading unless there is new feature or bug fix I need. Recently the 920 series had problems with bricking the Cimmaron ani boards upon firmware upgrades. It turned out that they were not compatible so Cimmaron issued a revision which solved the prob...

Re: Taking 5100 out of band.

EF Johnson makes at least two UHF splits. I have two of these portables.
One is 403-470 mhz and the other is 450-512 mhz

PCConfigure will not let me take either radio out of it's split.

Re: MRK Programming errors

There are several software versions that will program that radio:

EDACS is a dos program and Programmer is a windows program.

Are you using a real com port? I have never had any luck with those usb to serial adapters.

Re: MRK Programming errors

I'm not an M-RK guy but I have experience with the M-PA which is similar. I believe that EDACS is a DOS program, so the standard caveats about running real DOS and not a DOS windows apply. What is the model number or combo number from the back of the radio? Check it against http://www.hallelectronic...

Re: VX-4204 Tone and DCS decode problem

try grounding the microphone to the chassis. It could be a feature motorola used to call HUB switch or hang up box. If enabled the receive pl will be disabled when the mic is removed feom the hanger. The premise was that the pl would be on until you were ready to transmit, and you could then monitor...

Re: VX-160 question from a new guy

Double check your codeplug. You must have something askew. My kid's FRS radios work better than that.

You should make sure you have the same frequency and PL tone on both the transmit and receive side of things then load the same plug into both radios.
