based on the situation you described you are definately looking for a repeater. I am not sure of your local laws, but you need to get a repeater frequency pair from the governing agency and then you need to buy the actual hardware. Good Luck.

I think you just explained to yourself how a fixed base repeater works...but just for yucks I will explain it again. A repeater works quite well for hearing both sides of a conversation. It does that by using two separate frequencies, one for the repeater input or the tx of the portable or mobile an...

We use Empire batteries for our TK-380's. They are NiMh @ 2000Mah. I just checked an online store and they were going for about $38.00. We were using the Kenwood NiCad's and they began to suck, royally! We tried the Kenwood NiMh batteries and they were ok, except for the price. Now we have these and...

Yes you can combine both UHF and VHF-High frequencies into one bank. I agree these are pretty cool radios but they nedd to do an upgrade to them. IMHO they need three things changed. 1. Different LCD with a wider viewing angle. 2. Add Advance FleenSync features, like decoding 3. Make them triband ca...

Bruce... You dual band TK-7/890 should function seeminglessly. Within the programming software, it should be setup for dual band radio operation. Doing this allows you to program both VHF and UHF channels into one bank. As far as being able to scan multiple banks...Within the 'Scan Information' wind...

yes that is what is happening...
Now for an update.
I have been in touch with Kenwood and apparently there is a problem with the firmware that effects all 150 series mobiles. They are fixing this issue for the 150 series mobiles.

FleetSync Question
is there any way to block out ID's from a different fleet from appearing on the radio display? Our PD and FD are both using fleetsync and I want to set it up so they do not see us and we do not see them. Thanks

TK-8150
I have recently finnished setting up fleetSync (BOT) on our TK-8150's. I notice that when you key the mic it drops the transmission for a spiit second between the PTT ID and the user actually talking. Anyone experience this> Thanks.

Firmware
If you are upgrading the firmware of the radio, I do believe that you have to hold down a button during a power cycle. I havn't done a firmware upgrade to a 90 series, but if it is like the 150 series I imagine you will need to do teh same thing.

Hi...I have seen the aux key setup to run a siren. It was hooked up to the "hands free" feature of the siren. This was do to limited space. It seems to work ok. I imagine you should have good results with warning lights.

I am programming the 3180 with the emergency feature, and I am trying to get the radio to decode the FleetSync ID that has actvated their emergency button. Is there a check box I am missing that will allow this? Thanks.
