Re: TK-3170 Programming

I was responding to a post from yesterday, now deleted, asking for Kenwood software and offering to trade Motorola Saber RSS.

Re: TK-3170 Programming

This board has strict rules about software piracy: http://www.radioinfoboard.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1722 Offering to trade software is a sure way to kicked off. Any Kenwood 2way dealer can program the radio for you and will possibly be willing to sell you the software. EDIT 11/29 - These commen...

Re: Narrowband Splinter Channel Repeater from two TK-730G Radios

I would agree is is not generally a good practice and it must be kept in mind it works only for a single frequency application since the shift will mess up other frequencies. The opinion I got from the Motorola legal people when I questioned their solution in the case I mentioned above is that is le...

Re: Narrowband Splinter Channel Repeater from two TK-730G Radios

Your idea of warping the reference oscillator frequency to shift the channel frequency is theoretically possible in the situation you describe. The limiting factor is probably how far the frequency can be shifted. Motorola sold my former employer a SCADA system for an odd 1.25kHz split and they did ...

Re: Programming question about 730G/830G's.

Be aware that while the 730G is capable of narrow band on the present 15KHz channels it is not capable of the new narrowband 7.5KHz channels.

The issue of use of the the 730G for narrowband has been discussed extensively on here. Use the search function.

Re: Anybody hae experience with a battery conditioner?

The ITECH battery analyzer/conditioners can be a useful tool for testing and preventative maintenance but they are not a magic cure for worn out batteries. If you have radios that are not regularly used or are used briefly without regular significant discharge and recharge, this is a useful tool for...

1. Press the key you programmed as "2-TONE ENCODE"
A preprogrammed 2-tone code will appear on the display.

2. Press CHANNEL UP/DOWN keys to select the desired 2-tone code name,

3. Press the PTT switch and the 2-TONE ENCODE key to transmit.

Re: TK-730 Programming

You probably damaged something else on the circuit board when you pulled the resistors off. Since you don't have the skill and equipment to properly work on SMD circuit boards, I suggest you take the radio to a service shop before you do more damage. If you get in there with an ordinary soldering ir...

I don't have a manual handy for the 890 but, on most Kenwwod radios, installation of the scrambler involves removal of 0 Ohm resistors to route the TX and RX audio through the scrambler board. If the scrambler board is removed, those resistors need to be put back to restore the audio paths.

Kenwwod software is available from most local Kenwood dealers but is usually not sold on line.

I suggest you check with a local dealer. I do not have any information on which version is current for a TK2102A. Ask the dealer when you inquire about buying the software.

That is the reason the slug is designated for 25-50MHz. The reading will be increasingly low in proportion to the frequency when used below the design range. Bird elements are made for specific frequency and power ranges to maintain accurate calibration. From what you describe, your rig probably has...

The TK360 antenna uses a SMA type connector with a center contact. What is the PL deviation level? Wide or narrow band?. QT (PL)Deviation may be set too high or the QT TCXO balance or the QT VCO balance may be out of adjustment. These usually don't change but if someone has messed with the Tuning Mo...

I assume that 155.16 was not used in that vehicle before you added it when you reprogrammed? This is a common problem. Vehicle electronic modules do radiate signals on some frequencies in the VHF band. The first step to mitigate the problem is to always do a proper antenna installation with a center...

You don't need to do anything to the radio. Just connect the cable, start KPG56D and select program/read from radio. Are you getting the "check connection" error message? Are you sure you have the proper com port selected in KPG56D setup? Are you running DOS 6.22 with a "clean" b...

When you read the radio, it will indicate which model it is. You don't need to select anything. The model type menu is to create a programming file for a radio without reading it, in which case you need to know what model you intend to program with that file. If the radio was made for sale in the US...
