I believe you will need different software. The KPG-56D version I have does not list a 250. In fact, it will not program a TK-270. It will program a TK-270g-1, but not a plain TK-270.
Want to buy a TK-270 (not a g-1) at a good price?

The problem is board policy
Alex does not like to get the board involved in software too much. The plicy states Asking for it, posting locations for it, giving it to others through this board is a violation of the rules. Having said that, I would say your request is within those policies as long as what you are trying to do is...

So how do I do this ?
I have a private well house I am responsible for. I would like to set up a a radio that is tied in to sensors that called me when the temperature fell below a preset number, water pressure drops, power fails, or some other event triggers an alarm. I'm thinking an HT with a quarter wave antenna on th...

That's why I have the old Winders 95 laptop under the desk
Daughter changed her faith and got a Mac. I talked her out of the old Compaq with 95 on it. I loaded the old Kenwood software on it and stuck it under the desk just for that purpose.

Kenwood battery / charger question
I bought an HT on ebay, and it came with a KNB-20N Ni-MH battery. It of course does not work in any of my chargers for KNB-15 batteries.
So, what charger do I need for a KNB-20N ? I reckon grinding off the tabs on the side so it will fit into the charger I have is not a good idea?

If you figure out how I want to know
I have guys on both the VFD and Ambulance and it would sure be nice to have both in there. Generally in our case the ambulance wins, because they work off a more limited number of personnel

How does one donate?
Forgive me for being so dumb, but how would one donate to the operation of the board if he so desired? I've kind of looked around and see no explanation of how to do it.

I don't think it is a radio ...
No, it won't do a thing for you on UHF, bit if it's free, take it. You can always put it on ebay, eham, or qrz. Excerpt from http://www.kb2ljj.com/data/icom/ic-160.htm ICOM's AT-160 is a very popular antenna tuner. Originally designed to work with the IC-728 and IC-729 transceivers (now out of produ...

The G indicates its Narrow band capable.
Joe, I know nothing and less every day. But in response to a question I asked last month about Kenwood handhelds on here I was told "The G indicates its Narrow band capable." So the TK-272G should be OK for you. We have about 20 of them on our local VFD and the only complaint has been batt...

What software version do I need ?
I have KPG-56D for programming our Fire Dept TK-272G handhelds. We needed a radio for a new firefighter. Got a chance to buy a good used TK-270, not realizing it was not a "G". Nice little radio other than it uses a different battery, antenna, is not what I consider alpha-numeric (it just ...
