Re: Astron RM-50M problem

I have also seen the output post short to the chassis. Sometimes they get over tightened and this causes the problem. It is easy to lift the wires from
these output terminals and see what happens.

5300 mobile - rebanding upgrade

Is there anyway to tell if the 5300 mobile can be rebanded in the 800 trunking or not?

The reason I ask is that I have a spread of radios where some were made in Waseca and others were made in Dallas.

Re: Orion Programming cable diagram

OK, found my diagram. Info for those that are still using the GE interface box, with a few mods to the programming cable, you can plug the cable directly into your serial port of your computer. Don't need the interface box for this radio any more. Jim DB37 - - - - - - - - - - - - BD9 2 120 ohm resis...

Orion Programming cable diagram

Does anyone have a PDF of the correct programming cable for an Orion? I believe that the one on the Hall site is missing a couple of resistors and a jumper to make it work.

I thought I had a diagram, but can't seem to locate it.

Re: MA-COM M7100

I am mistaken, the program cable uses the DB-37 connector on the back of the radio.

Anyone have that cable information to make a programming cable?

MA-COM M7100

Does anyone have a good sheet that has all the pin (cable) connections for the different connectors on the radio. Many of the sheets I have seen provide cable wire colors only and not the functions. Also looking for the programming cable diagram that uses the small DB connector that is a high densit...

TK-5710 software comparison to XTL5000 radio

Have had some time to play with and program one of the new series Kenwood TK-5710 mobiles. My understanding is this is kenwood's answer to the Motorola XTL5000 series mobiles and P25. Well in playing and programming the the TK-5710 radio, the first thing that bugs me is there is no way to provide th...

Looking for HEX codes to control TK8180

Looking for the HEX codes to remotely control the TK8180 radio through the serial interface. I know that you can send commands and receive the data interface info to be able to produce a virtual control head display of the radio. I have some of the command HEX codes, but am looking for the code for ...

Re: need help 5100 series

I have seen the radios get very touchy as to the data speed you try programming the radio at. If your getting the error while trying to read the radio, try different speeds. I have some radios that want the rate at 9600 and others that want it higher. As I have a number of different radios and versi...

Scan lists for the 5100 and 5300 radios

Having the pleasure of playing with a number of different brands of radios, you get to see the trend of how each company has handled the scan list issue. With that said, I have found that EFJ has not modified their way of working with scan lists. They have chosen to force the user to create a list a...

Re: GE Delta VHF

This is kind of an old post to be replying to, but figured I would try as no one else has. First of all, if you have the 2212 EEPROM, then you have a Delta-S and not a Delta. Big difference between the 2 radios. Second, if your having problems with the TNC on TX, I would guess that your TX deviation...

Re: TK760 goes dead when key mic

Where are you measuring the +12 volts? You need to look at the high current going to the transmitter. A poor crimp connection, a loose fuse or a bad fuse can all do the same thing. My bet is you have low voltage to the radio some place. You might also try connecting the negative side of your volt me...

Re: Logging on to Batlabs?

I use Firefox all the time and have no problems logging in. However I will say that every morning between about 7 AM and 7:30 AM, East Coast time, the site seems to lock up like it is updating. So i just avoid it during that short time. You might also want to check that you have the current version ...
