Re: EFJ 242-5326-271 programming cable
I've designed a little circuit for programming the 5300 which lets you do either firmware updates or lets you program the radio with PCC. I'm waiting on a PCB place to deliver some boards but I'm planning on selling them for $50 to start with. Check out refurbatron on facebook for a pix of the proto...

53SL Questions
I picked up my first of this series. I have lots of info on the 5300 (17 and 18) but zilch on the 53SL. The first thing I notice is that power up seems to click along ok then.... CYCLE POWR shows on the display and seems to stay that way. (Cycling power doesn't change anything) Anyone with anything ...

Re: Putting 5300 into Code Update Mode
Is there someplace to find .out files for version one radios? I have some arm based radios with control 1.10.0 and DSP 0.1.23 and for what its worth file fmt 5.5 and hw 0.1.2
I see .hex files in the /dsp/5300 directory. Is that something that needs to be proccessed into the .out file somehow?

5131 Parameter error help
I picked up a pair of 5100s These are both 5131 UHF 380-470 MHz radios with a blank front. *No buttons or display. Using pcc 1.26.0.4 or 1.28.0.8 at 9600 baud I am able to read the options and the version information. *Note I've tried setting the parameters to UHF Lo and UHF 380 Model # 242-512A-433...

Re: Firmware request for...
Did you ever find code to upgrade your firmware? I'm also looking for the best version of boot, dsp and arm code for early 5317s with version 1 firmware. The newest one I've seen is File Format 5.8 DSP Software 0.1.59 Controller Version 1.26.3 Hardware Version 0.1.2 Boot load ver 1.8 I've got a coup...

Keyloading and Over the Air Questions
I've got no serious reason to need encryption other then being curious and wanting to play around with something new. I have some EFJ 5300s that have the old transcrypt 460 scramblers built in. Some of the radios have keys in them from the previous owners and I can turn on selectable mode and when I...

Re: 5300 Programming Nightmare
Just an update to the programming nightmare. I have a few radios that boot up super fast and I think are saying V202. Anyhow I found that I needed to switch to 9600 baud to read or program these radios. Note this changes the options that you can program to the radio. Don't give up. The software vers...

Re: EF Johnson 5317 Mobile.
Someone (probably) pressed the button to put it into crypto mode and the radio was not set up for that. Pass him along this cheat sheet that will put the radio into a working condition. Excuse the formating. Cut and past this into a text editor and change it to monospaced fonts so it looks right. Or...

Re: Problems programming older EFJ5300 mobile
I'm not certain as thats a version number I've not seen. I think you have a version 1 5300 which is ARM based. 5300 ARM DSP FIRMWARE BOOT PCC Version 1 (ARM) 1.32.11 1.64 N/A 1.10/1.12 1.30.7 I think PCC 1.28.0.8 is another version to try.

Re: 5300 Programming Nightmare
Did you try changing your baudrate? I find that 5300 want higher speed serial date. It simply doesn't work at some of the slower speeds so check out 115k or 56k.
