Re: kenwood krk-4db programming

There are several jumpers that have to be re configured in the radios, have you done them?

Re: Kenwood TK-730H

The radio you have is a VHF high band (150-174 mhz) The "H" indicates high power.

You need a TK-630 in the 42-50 mhz split in order to cover 46 mhz.

I have some 320 channel 110 watt Midland Syn-Tech II radios in the 42-50 split if any one needs some.

Re: Kenwood Alpha Display Backlite

The radio has surface mount LED's to back light the display, the problem is fairly common. IIRC there are 4 of them, best to replace them all.

Re: midland 70-166-32b

The 70-166 requires a 70-1052A programming interface and the appropriate (MHP.exe) software running on a slow DOS based computer.

The 70-1052A units are pretty rare.

10 - 15 minutes should be ok if your bulb is fairly new, a little longer if it is getting some age on it. Just make sure you get the door completely closed or else you will think you are erasing and the light has never come on. The newer 70-1100's had a small lense that glowed when the UV light was ...

DUPLEXING AN X30

The X30 series can not be duplexed since they only have one VCO. You will need 2 radios (one transmit, one receive) to create a repeater. Just about all of the stuff you need is available on the molex connector on the rear of the radio. I can't remember if COS is available on the Molex connector or ...

You can use the dual band adapter with either head.

The new in box KRK-4DB is $75.00 which includes instructions on how to install the kit.

Chris - The TKR-820 was designed to function as a "community" repeater with multiple PL / DPL tone groups without having to use an external controller. It sounds like you have several tone sets stored in the eeprom on the repeater controller board. You will need to pop it into the socket o...

The 70-1052A is a PC interface for the 70-045 / 70-065 / 70-165 / 70-265 / 70-166 / 70-266 portables. I have one I will be putting on ebay in the next several days.

I think Skip is thinking about the 70-1072 adapter which is used to program the 8 ch Syn Tech I radios using the 70-1000 programmer.

The TK-820 will cover 440 amateur frequencies with reprogramming / retuning / alignment, provided it is not in the 470+ mhz split.

I built several crossband links with the TK760 / TK860 set ups several years ago. You should be able to set up 2 TK-760's as in band mobile repeaters provide you have a duplexer. Use the KCT-19 accessory cable and that brings everything out that you need.

The TK-230 was programmed via the KPT-20 stand alone programmer or IBM PC software and a programming cable. If you have the factory DTMF pad with the display the radio can be key pad programmed.
