The software is called Windows Programmer. I think it costs $2000.00 or something crazy like that. You can find it, but you have to really look. Legallity depends on your states own laws. You can program the radio not to TX easily, so the PTT is not an issue. You are going to have a real hard time f...

Price Industries has the cable. The software can be had from M/A Com for a pretty penny, but can also be found on the net if you look hard enough...

Before you do any programming, make sure to make backup copies of all files in the radio...

Lou, If you wish, you can email me the codeplug and I'll take a look at it. It could be that the channels just aren't assined to the propper channel, but I'd have to look. As for out of band, M/A Com is holding out on us. They told me that the Orions can be taken out of band with any version of soft...

I'm not sure what tool you'd need, but if it's a spanner type nut, you can make one. Just use an old flat head screw driver that is wide enough to cover the whole nut. Take a dremel tool and 'etch' out the insides of the flat blade until it fits the nut. I use it on the SMA and the battery connector...

The cable schematic on Hall Electronics site is for use with a RIB.

The price industry cable is different and does not require a RIB.

On the 120 MHz, I am using DOS only (no Windows at all). On the 600 MHz, I'm using a DOS window.

The Windows software that I have is the EDACS version. I have several different DOS versions (none seem to work).

The way the guy at MA-Com described to me was that you could program with DOS, but you just couldn't read. Well, I've tried everything I know to program these things out of band. As soon as I can get an Astro Spectra, the VHF Orion will go to Ebay. I have never in my life had to deal with a radio as...

These errors occur on 600 MHz, 166 MHz and 120 MHz machines... Here are the errors that I experience every time I try to program with DOS. After I press 'F1' to program, it gives me this: Error: Reading Flash code. Recycle radio power to program special radio code to radio. Press enter to continue. ...

Computer speed?

I know this is a stupid question, but I am having a hell of time trying to program some Orion radios with DOS software. I can program away with Windows software, but DOS gives me an error that says something like "12v 12 error" or something like that when trying to program with DOS. This h...

That's what I was betting on, but Pyramid sells a repeater controller that hooks up to this radio that says the blue wire is COR. They are probably mistaken or other mods would have to be done.

I just need a db9 to finish up testing here
