Re: Two TK-630H with same control head....
I once considered doing the same thing with a pair of 730's in different band splits. In the software there is no option to program such a beast. It would be interesting to put together and try it. I'm thinking you could use an EEPROM programmer to program the EEPROMS. Be a lot of fiddling around.

Try looping your headset cord through a ferrite core.

Re: TK-x30 cross band repeat
I built a dual bander awhile back and have tinkered with a bunch of 830's. Never heard of a cross band repeater. Be a cool project though.

Sounds like the ground path is making it from the cig lighter plug into the radio. Can you open it up and use an ohmeter to check the ground path?

Re: Dual antennas in UHF 430 MHz...
That cable is used for CB where truckers will have an antenna on each mirror mount. In that application it acts as a directional system increasing the gain to the front and rear and less for the sides. Which is ideal for trucks on the road. I've never heard of it being used on UHF.

I have programmed those before and if I'm not mistaken you need to run the software in DOS.

Re: TK-730 locked up. HELP!
I've heard of those radios losing their memory before. It's rare but it happens. The chip that contains the memory is electrically erasable and I think it's possible for it to be be erased inadvertently.

Re: TK-730 locked up. HELP!
Do you have a programming cable and the software? Also open up the radio and see if the small 8 pin EEPROM is missing. This contains the channel information. It will be near the large PROM that contains the firmware. It kinda sounds like the programming has been wiped.

You will need to write a new file. The radio has to be told it's a W/N capable radio in the initial settings. Just like you need to tell it what frequency and band split it is. Hope this helps.

Re: problem programming the tk 730/help!
On some cables they need to get power from the radio to work. Pin 1 of the mic plug, which is closest to the channel knob, should have 12 volts when the radio is on. Inside the control head is a resistor (R-6) that is sometimes clipped to prevent reading or programming radios. The EEPROMS are prepro...

Re: problem programming the tk 730/help!
Have you put the radio into program mode?
Can you test you cable on a known good radio?
Did you set the correct comm port in the software?
No, you can't clone the 730 from the mic cable.
