Re: Orion Face Button Programming
The TXPWR option only works on the portable radios. The user cannot select between high and low power on the mobile radios. After you set the system/group buttons, SG1, SG2, etc., go to the Options tab and scroll down to "system/group keys". Here you can specify which system and talk group...

Re: Enhanced Vehicle Charger
Check to see if the charger is set to ignition sense. There are two ways to try it. The first being to hook up the ignition sense lead which connects to pin 10 on the DB25 at the rear of the charger to +12 volts and see if it comes on. Or, remove the three phillips screws on the bottom of the charge...

When you program the radio, the popup window comes up and you can select the flash/ADI code to write to the radio. At the upper left corner of the window is a button labelled "Mobile Options". Click it and another window opens. Select "write keypad file" for your type of head; sc...

Re: Orion 806-870mhz EDACS Programming
Whenever you read or write a personality to a radio, Programmer automatically saves a copy of the tracking data and feature data in the /backup folder. You can also read, write and edit them in the Radio Maintenance program which comes with Programmer. If you have Programmer R18 or older there are t...

Re: MRK I (can rcv but no x'mitt)
Are you trying to transmit on EDACS or conventional? If the radio won't transmit on EDACS, try on a conventional channel. Does the radio display that it is transmitting but nothing comes through or does it "boop" and refuse to do anything when the PTT is pressed? What is your method for de...

Couple of questions first. What version of programmer are you using? What version of flash/DSP is loaded into the radio? Did you upgrade the features of the radio yourself? If so, do you still have the original features? What frequency band is your radio? Did the radio power up ok before you started...

Re: Federal Signal Smart Siren and the Orion
You need to check three jumpers in the control head. Undo the four T-10 torx screws and the head comes apart. The RIA board is the one on the back half with the two DB25's on it. There are three jumpers. To make the head talk to the siren the jumpers need to be set to "B", "D", a...

Uncheck the Auto Login on the Power Up options menu. If you have a talk group set to not transmit but the auto login is on, the radio will login, you just can't PTT.

Re: P7100 Question
The latest (and last) version of flash for use by Programmer is J2R11B01. The latest version for Programmer R16 was J2R08A05. When new options or features are added to a radio, they must be incorporated into both the flash code for the radio and Programmer so they can be properly written. You can pr...
