The rec front end filters are very narrow and prob need tuning.

Any tech should be able to troubleshoot the problem....that model was famous for circuits going open on the front controller board,usually repaired by wiring jumpers from point a to point b.

That amp has a few inputs.....it is possible to have one section go bad and still get the power on beep. Try the amp board from another radio and see if it works,also could be a bad relay on the same board,try programming it for PA and see if that works.

As stated above, it is possible. The power control is a varable resistor,if you knew the resistance you needed for the power level you desired,the aux button could be used to switch in that resistor. It would take some circuit board work and a little time. You would have to really want that feature ...

It is not programable,but is adjustable by the power control. I am sure you could mugwump the aux button to switch in some addtl circuit in the power control.

Alex,when you create a new codeplug and try to program it in...what happens? do you get a model type mismatch?

It means piority,if it is on every channel,it is programmed as selected channel priority for scanning.

I just checked my software and see the 480 and 880 are the same software.I know for a fact the 880 followed the above post and the old software would not work,prob is your problem with your 480's.

I pulled the manual thinking that there was a program mode procedure,Not the case. The PC software does it for you. Has that cable and/or PC worked on other Kenwoods? A few Kenwood models were changed in production and needed a new software which was backwards compatable,you may have the old softwar...
