Re: Info on Stealth25 Portable
Frank, Are you talking about the new 5100 series portables? If so, I have one and they take XTS batteries and accessories. As far as programming I was able to make a cable out of a serial cable and some small brass pins. There is no need for a RIB the electronics are built into the radio. There are ...

vx-537 NLA?
Today my dealer told me that the vx-537 is NLA. What gives? Is Vertex going to discontinue this model or does NYPD have an exclusivity agreement?
Does anyone have one for sale?

Re: FTL-2011 problem programming
You don't necessarily need a slow computer. You do need DOS, real DOS not a DOS window. Double check your software to make sure it is set to the correct com port. You can easily make a DOS boot disk or floppy and then run your software. As far as slowing things down there is a program called moslow,...

Re: MPD problems
try replacing that battery.
Then try all the channels, see if any lock.
These radios are so cheap now that it is not economical to fix, just pick up another used one.

Re: MRK AEGIS with Conventional Repeater
You are correct Aegis is just digital without any encryption, however with most Aegis radios encryption is possible by simply adding a system key. Ge had two flavors VGE and DES. I'm sure a Quantar repeater will do it no problem, as will the GE counterpart, but as Aegis has no CTCSS tone it will not...

Re: VX10 ERROR 1 Message??????
Try loading the default codeplug into the radio. Make sure it is the correct one for the split of the radio.
Error 1 usually means that the codeplug is corrupt.
For the vx-10 make sure you are using straight dos on a computer with a com port. Do not try to run the software in a dos window.

Re: VX-920 and others out of band
Still looking for any info on getting the UHF down to 440 mhz.
Ironically my VHF will do 2 meters right out of the box. My vx-427 will do half of the ham band stopping at 146 mhz.

70-3400BD Repeater narrowband questions
I have the 70-3400BD repeater in VHF it has the optional board for 12.5khz channel spacing with 1/2nd if filters. Does anyone know if this rig meets the new narrowbanding fcc specs? If so how do I get proof that it does? This is for a government application so everything must be by the book. any hel...

My US Coast Guard Auxiliary flotilla is using these radios, because we are authorized to use some special federal frequencies in addition to the marine band. We use the M-88 and it works well. It does not well when stretched down to the limits of the band ie 144 mhz. We also like the waterproof feat...

It wasn't easy, but I was able to get it in. I'll have to take up the warranty issue with Vertex, if it ever comes to that. Experience tells me that the radio will get crushed by a truck, or dropped or lost overboard, so the warranty won't likely be used. My mistake was not taking off the special nu...
