I have never seen that error! Was/is the radio working as is? Did it come from someone who possibly screwed up the programming? You can try starting from scratch,write a program with the model that the radio is supposed to be,then write that to the radio,when prompted tell it to overwrite,then try r...

Yes,pull the volume knob and you will see the sq with no knob,adjust as needed.

Thanks for the reply - I did that, but it still comes up flashing the GR1 - CH1 when it powers back on. The radio will program and work fine in the 2 meter range.

Kenwood had a bulletin on this subject after many dealers complained. I can't locate it at the moment,but it was far too involved. It is easier to tie into the rear of the mic jack. The mics need to be modified because the mic elements are always hot.Pyramid has the mic mods documented on their webs...

Even the 630 is not that wideband ! I have a few doing 37-54 with the band edges at .5uv and inbetween at .2uv,power is fairly consistant.
The 690 ain't even gonna come close.
