OK, I figured it out. Never use your oldest serial cable when attempting to trouble shoot. Long and short of it, yes the MRK needs the flash voltage whenever I write a personality. In any case, I also figured out the "special" bandsplit resistor value. I'm going to start a new topic with t...

OK, Using ProGrammer 13, I get an error writing fixed personality error message. I do now know that there is activity on the flash voltage line wether I read or attempt to write to the radio. I will build the flash cuircutry and see what happens. I have updated my design to include all the relavant ...

MRK programming issues/homebrew rib

Hey All. I have been attempting to program an MRK-II conventional using the dos edacs-3 conv1 program. I have engineered a rib using a rs-232-ttl converter, and have successfully read and written tracking data but when attempting to write personality data to the radio, I recieve a transmit-protocol ...

MPA 628 controller service LBI Number ?

Hey all. I've been digging through the LBI files at radtek, and can't, for the life of me, find the LBI# for the service section of a 628 type edacs/hamflashable board. every combination manual points to the LBI for the 081 board. I now have 3 with issues and it seems a shame not to fix them. They a...

that part # is for the 99 or 128 ch option, I don't know if it's in addition to the existing prom. I'll investigate and confirm. Again, to quote n5tbu: >I needed to remove r33 on the alpha head to go from 32 to 160 >channels >also r 156 on the control unit as well as replacing IC 109 on the control ...

Also, Radioman, the proms with the dualband info were the 28 pin uv erase style eprom in the radio itself. I believe it's either a 27c128 or 27c256, has "kenwood FAA" written on it, at least my single radio eprom has that written on it. I remember replacing the eprom when setting up a tk-7...

Hey Ridgerunner, you wouldn't be able to read the uv erase Eprom with the radio firmware and post it here or send via email? I'm looking to do a dual radio single head setup, and am having lousy luck tracking down a krk-4db in any condition. I'll provide eproms if you want to do it, along with my et...

Hey Radioman, would you happen to have the Dual radio single head firmware chips handy to read with a prom reader? I'd love to do a KRK-4DB with uhf and low band. I'm really enjoying the 630, hunting for an 830. I have 2 kch-4's coming as well. I'm also looking for a sevice manual for the 630, and a...

Need manual for KRK-4db and eeprom images

Hey All. Anyone out there want to make a photocopy of the manual for the krk-4db kit. I'd also love to get images from the eeproms for the main and secondary radios. I'll happily pay ay reasonable fees for shipping the manual or copy and if anyone has an eprom reader and feels like sharing the firmw...

upon further investigation, it seems that the SP function allows entry from 29.00 to 54.00 mhz only. Nice of kenwood the think of hams while blocking CB'ers

Hey there. Been playing with my tk-630 for the last two days. >1. Does the standard Kenwood program work in the ham bands or does >it need to be hacked? Tthe standard KPG7D program works. When you open the program, you will need to go into the model menu, select the style head and channel configurat...

the tk-630 has 3 ranges, similar to the maratrac or maxtrac ranges. I think 29-36, 36-42 and 42-50. The k1 version is the low split, k3 is Hi split. I have my first K3 630 coming this coming week. I don't know if the 730 comes in multiple ranges. I do know the 830 has a mid and Hi split, I assume th...
