With that being the case, I doubt if the original schematic would be of much use. However, I'll still sent it if its wanted.

I thought so, but I wasn't sure. Drop me an email, and I'll send you the schematic of the programming cable. It used to be posted on the board, but the site I had it hosted on went down. I'll get it hosted somewhere else one day, maybe  !

Gary, the subject has already been covered on here before. Use this link to go to the info. Go to the fourth post down on the page the link takes you to (should be a post by me). There is also a little more info on the subject in the sixth post down. Good luck! 8)

Any idea what the "N" in the model is? I have the schematic for the RH256, and I would assume that it is either the same or so close that it will work. Let me know how large a file your ISP will let you have in your inbox, and I'll get it to you.

Which schematic? The SMP4004C, or the one Aardvark has? If it's the SMP4004C, PM or email me with an email addy, and I'd be glad to send it to you.

Do you have the hang-up button on the back of the mic grounded? If not, the radio thinks it is "off-hook", and is in monitor (PLs defeated).

If you have a different model, let me know, and I can help you post it.

While I'm sure that could be done, you would have to know exactly what portion of the EEPROM contains the info that you need to overwrite. You've just possibly overwritten parts of the EEPROM that shouldn't have been overwritten. I'm not that familiar with Maxon, but it may be time to find a repacem...

"Groups" would only apply if I had a KCH-4 ("advanced") control head. I'm running the KCH-3 ("basic") control head, which doesn't support 'groups'. It supports 99 channels, if upgraded, which it is, but all 99 channels are in one big group, so to speak.

Yeah, that's the circuit I designed mine around. I simply made a few improvements to it.

I have a schematic of the programmer posted on the board. Look for the topic "Midland Syn-Tech II/XTR Programming Cable" in the Midland forum. Last time I checked, the weblinking part of BBCode didn't seem to be working properly, so you may have to copy and paste the link to the image.

Are you asking for a RIB cable schematic? If so, it can be found here: [img]http://ratlodge.com/batlabs/albums/user ... 06/Midland 70-1308A.jpg[/img].

(BBCode doesn't seem to be working properly at the moment, so you may have to copy and paste the link.)

While we're at it here, I've got another question about these radios (I'm new to them, I'm mostly a /\/\otorola man). I'm assuming that simply grounding the hang-up button on that back of the mic puts it in a "hung-up" state. If this is correct, is it normal for the squelch to open complet...
